Butterfly
With "new" AC6000 #6002 temporarily out of commission due to problems loading, the Western New York & Pennsylvania launched OL-1 with with a brace of "bigs" and 14 loads of sand for Emporium, PA. This was obviously a real godsend considering I didn't figure on seeing anything with a pure consist of 6-axle ALCos.
The train is seen here just around the corner from Clermont Junction in the tiny burg of Eldred, PA, headed for Keating Summit in a steady drizzle. In the lead is former Arkansas & Missouri C630M #630, reportedly built as CP #4500, and former Quebec Cartier Railway MLW M636 #637, built as CN #2312.
The matching foliage was pure serendipity - I didn't even notice until I was reviewing my shots later in the day.

there was some activity last night in the sky but it was cloudy and i really wanted to go out but i dint ,im on sofa rest these days ,stitches are out but to much swelling so doctors orders are to stay of the leg as much as i can for a few days ;/
but this is taken at Þingvellir national park Iceland and the stairs you see there are for sightseeing over to the church and and other spots there .

My friend and colleague's 8 month old baby boy, Arthur, is being taken off his ventilator at GOSH and brought home to his family after they were told there was nothing more they could do for him.
I'm just heartbroken for them and feel so terribly guilty. Her words last night were:

Freezing rain all morning and still falling. Tiny frozen drop under a leftover seed in our redbud tree. Very dim light, handheld just overhead. First time to try out my macro lens since being repaired by Canon. Very shaky with a bit of breeze, as well. Had a very hard time trying to get focus.

A beautiful grand-niece arrived a couple of weeks ago. I was honored to be asked to take some newborn photographs. This is one of dad and baby. As long as I live I will never get over seeing the miracle of a baby's perfect little hands.

A spasso per i campi di colza, in mezzo alla nebbiolina del mattino che si colora d'oro coi raggi del sole... sono tornato a casa con -letteralmente- l'acqua che mi usciva dalle scarpe infangate (facendo un rumore di rane gracidanti) e i jeans bagnati fino all'inguine... ma ne è valsa la pena...

This man is a U.S. Army veteran of the pivotal battle of the closing days of WWII that Gen. Dwight D. Eisenhower called the "Miracle of Remagen."
On March 7, 1945, advance elements of the 9th U.S. Armored Division captured the Ludendorff Railway Bridge in Remagen, Germany -- the last bridge across the Rhine river to remain standing as allied forces advanced toward Berlin. Despite desperate German efforts to demolish the bridge to stall the allied advance, the bridge was taken by American forces -- a victory that was credited with shortening the war by about two months, saving untold lives in the process.
The photo was taken in May 2000, at the site where the bridge used to stand, during a ceremony to commemorate the 55th anniversary of the battle. The ceremony was attended by both German and American veterans.
You can become blind by seeing each day as a similar one. Each day is a different one, each day brings a miracle of its own. It's just a matter of paying attention to this miracle.

We just had a very low helicopter fly over that woke her up from a sound sleep. Lots of conjecture all morning on FB about why sets of 3 are flying over. We are the next town over from where the Patriots play their home football games.
