Alef's father was in the midst of fighting over the ruins of the Mist Palace, a strategic enclave to dominate the lowlands of the Fairelands. This had once been the palace of the Kings of the Fairelands, and since the fall of the last king and the removal of the court to The Clouded Mountains, the entire region had become a territory of fighting and looting. It was then that Alef took the opportunity to escape and start his adventures.

A Turnstone searching for food between the resting seals on the beach at Horsey, Norfolk.

Vicka has come, the seer,

pale skin, crocheted scarf,

an other worldly calm

unexpectedly in their midst.

The cup of her hands pours

a blessing over them; she says

please kneel, listen to Gospoda,

oh, she weeps for peace

in an evil world, fast, pray

on Wednesday, Friday.

This waif, is she 16? –

so plain, her voice tremulous--

some forget to videotape,

some seem distressed

the Holy Mother

is less present

than usual and Vicka

will not take questions

this time about heaven

or life after life or the end,

which is sooner

than anyone knows:

long flight home,

nothing worthwhile to take

and someone, hopefully,

at the gate to meet them.

In the midst of a world of wind and storm the old tree

creaks and sways, performing a wooden song and dance.

meanwhile giving me shelter for lighting a cigarette.

When I'll be that old, will I still sing and dance,

sheltering a man that lost, then found his way?

You live in a great big green world

With all your green friends

and no on every bothers you

if they aren’t green.

It’s always fun and safe and you are happy

Except you still think about the friends you don’t see

The ones who aren’t green and the ones

Who aren’t alive.

You still think about the family you’re missing

Because they are no longer part of

Your big green world.

No longer safe for you.

It’s so much better to stay in this safe space

Except

Sometimes you get lonely in the midst of the crowd

of others you can trust.

And you wonder….

What if we could all just be a part of this world?

Like it used to be just a few years ago…

Before everything changed.

Then you remember….

We always managed to find a way to separate ourselves

Divide instead of unite

and decide we definitely were not all connected.

“In the midst of Winter, I finally learnt, that there was in me an invincible Summer!! “

Wow!!! Isn’t this saying positive and adorable??? By Albert Camus, of course!!

**** “If anything in your life has entered the season of Summer, make sure, that you allow yourself to fully savor it, and know that you have earnt it!” . By Terry Lynn Taylor and Mary Beth Crain, in “Angel Wisdom”.

Sometimes during the midst of this tumultuous year, I like to cover my eyes and just dream of relaxing somewhere in a tropical setting with a cold one in hand.

As much as we love the winter, we miss the colour! Throwback to a gorgeous day in Val di Campo in the midst of the ephemeral beauty of the golden larches which only last for such a short time year over year.

This charming cypress grove in the midst of grain fields is situated just outside of San Quirico on the road to Montalcino. Another photographic and accordingly frequented icon of Val d'Orcia.

Taughannock Falls in upstate New York is spectacular on any day.

On this day it was raining and high humidity. When I arrived the falls were barely visible thought the mist and clouds. Overtime there were breaks and I stayed for the long game waiting for the mist to break giving a clear but mystic view of the falls.

Even in the midst of a huge storm rolling in, this flag was just begging for a picture. I haven't seen a storm like this in quite some time...the clouds were intensely dark.

From a geological standpoint, Iceland is a very young country, still in the midst of its own creation. Shaped by the forces of nature, the, barren landscapes demonstrate the creativity powers of the four basic elements—earth, air, fire, and water—in a dramatic way. Active volcanoes, bright green valleys, glacier-cut fjords, black sand beaches, and roaring rivers are the most distinctive features of the Icelandic landscape. And although they are very accessible, they still remain virtually untouched by human civilization. In a fast-paced world of sprawling development, Iceland's pure nature and empty expanses stand out as a luxury.

Despite the name, “ice” only covers about 10% of the land, but still represents the largest glaciers left in Europe. It represents a source of pure water and symbolizes the purity of Icelandic 1653

The theme for "Smile on Saturday" this week is "a light in the dark".

The year just gone has not been an easy one, and even though many of us wish that the New Year would wipe the slate clean, we know that this isn't going to be case. Nevertheless, hope is such an important thing to hold onto and not give up on. I can only manage my own actions and be the very best that I can be for myself and for others. I have hope, and I have never lost sight of it. I hope that you are the same.

It is hard to believe that we are in the midst of Spring with its beautiful colours and yet we are shut up in our homes. Fortunately, I have a creek and nature surrounding me to enjoy, plus the wildlife with their babies at this time of year. Wishing everyone strength and sending all good thoughts and vibes your way. This is my 10th and last work for the Vivid Virus Art group. Thank you for letting me join in.

This work is done for continuing with my Positive Flags of the Nations with celebrating all the newness and colours of Spring

I will post more shots of our adventure in the following days. keep posted. ..

This shot was taken along the way to the park.

A majestic blue heron stood in the midst of a snowfall hunting for its next meal. It stood still, waiting for the perfect moment to strike its beak into the water and grab a fish.

The bird was unruffled by the falling snowflakes, which gently blanketed its blue feathers.

The heron gazed out across the water, scanning for any signs of movement. The scene was serene and peaceful, with the blue heron standing tall and proud. The snowfall added an extra layer of serenity to the already tranquil setting, making it a beautiful sight to behold.

A blue heron (well, in fact the European variant (Ardea cinerea, "Graureiher") in lake constance.,

Morattico Baptist Church was founded in the midst of the Revolutionary War on January 7, 1778, with 8 congregants. By the end of 1778 it had 66 members. The present sanctuary was built in 1856 with bricks made on site. The church claims that by 1843 it was most likely the largest Baptist Church in the world with a membership of 948 congregants. One of the most notable accomplishments is that this church sent the first woman missionary (with her husband) to China in 1836. She was the daughter of the pastor, Addison Hall. He was never to see her again as she died in childbirth in 1845. This Baptist church is recognized as the mother church not only of the Northern Neck of Virginia, but of all of Virginia.

We went out on Saturday morning and found a little used track in the mountains. By unusually good luck I found myself in the middle of a warbler fallout, almost all of the Yellow-rumped variety.

My attention (as may be expected) was focused on the tops of conifers where I would say 200+ warblers were cavorting from limb to limb with avian zest. In the midst of this event, this... this...... (might I say jealous resident) descended from on high and began to pose at close unobscured distances from my camera. I took this as a deliberate attempt by this vain fellow to purvey attention for himself (or for herself as the case may be......nuance).
