Schlemmermeyer's meat shop at Munich's Viktualienmarkt (outdoor food market). Noted for their cooked and smoked sausages -- and those big pretzels look good, too.
WEEK 19 – Kroger, S Perkins
Last up for today is the Meat & Seafood department, directly to the right of produce, and what you're likely to see straight on as you first walk into the store. That is, if your view isn't blocked by everything else in front of it! I don't have it pictured, but this store, basically right behind where I was standing to take this, has a fully functional salad/soup bar. That's something the Hernando Kroger doesn't even have, and it's twice the size of this place – which, I might add, is still on the small side for a Kroger store!!
Next week – more from this awesome “industrial circus”...

These places are public so these photos are too, but just as I tell where they came from, I'd appreciate if you'd say who :)

WEEK 45 – Farmington Kroger, September 11th, 2015
That last shot was of the back aisle of the store, complete with Kroger's new woodgrain promotional signage, but unfortunately it turned out a little unfocused (hence the title). I still thought it upload-worthy because it was my only view of that area; as it is, though, that wasn't the subject of my picture – rather, I was trying to capture that info sign. This pic is of the same info sign, just turned another direction, looking at the meat and seafood counter in the back left of the store. These info signs are particularly interesting because they are of the Marketplace décor package. As you can tell from the 2012 décor on the walls, this store is not a Marketplace... but the presence of such fancy amenities as I just happen to not have gotten pictures of as “[a] juice bar, sushi bar, growler station, Starbucks, Corky’s BBQ and Ribs, gourmet pizza counter, and Murray’s Cheese Shop,” as well as the grilling station seen to the right of the info sign in this pic, have left us flickr folk wondering if this store was meant to become a Marketplace at one point in time.

Iridomyrmex purpureus
Subfamily: Dolichoderinae (Odorous Ants)
Family: Foricidae
Order: Hymenoptera
The Meat Ant forms nests are covered with a pile of fine gravel and hence it is sometimes referred to as the Gravel Ant.
They are important as distributors of seeds and are themselves an important food for Echidnas, small snakes, birds and other predators.
In this photo we can see the powerful mandibles.

Imagine shopping at a butcher's shop when the air temperature is 30'c and the meat has been hanging up all day. How would that smell? What would it look like?
a halloween-themed design I made for a certain t-shirt site. it goes without saying that this ain't for the vegans out there, sorry.
this will be available for purchase soon, I'll post the link later!

I took many photos of the Meat & Seafood department on my first several visits to this store, but I don't know that any of those later pics turned out any better than this one. With the fairly large crowd that was here opening day, it's a wonder the shot came out as people-free as it did also!

Meat Cutters at the Super Fresh Market I worked at paused to let me take this shot in 1985. When this store opened in 1975 as A&P it had an overhead meat rail for forequarters of beef, it entered the cooler through the opening over the door in the background.
One of my first duties here was cleaning the meat room at the end of the day.
Goetze's Meats, along with Esskay provided much of the meat consumed by Baltimore residents. They went out of business in 1975 but the large metal sign remains atop the vacant building on Sinclair Lane near Belair Road.
The meat & fish department is to the right of the bakery in the Germantown Farmington Blvd. Kroger. While the basket-style sign is something we seen before (over and over and over and....!), the signage directly underneath it is quite new. It's a very nice replacement for the blue and orange crap signage that got old very quickly. Here's hoping Kroger gets around to replacing all the blue and orange stuff in all it's older stores as well.
