Almost 1000 humpback whales gathered this year in Maui, mom's having their babies and males looking to mate with the females. Saw a couple breaches up close but missed the shots.

The weather on Maui has been a bit nasty. Work took precedence over the small windows of opportunities to shoot outdoors. Hopefully you enjoy some archived shots.

This shot is of the Kalahaku Lookout at the summit of Haleakala. The high altitude clouds helped to stop down the rising moon creating a halo but still allowed the sprinkling of some stars. Moonlight reflecting off the top of the low altitude clouds make it appear like the surface of the ocean.

Have a nice night!

I recently spent the better part of November in Lahaina in Maui, Hawaii on a business trip. I only had time to take my camera on a few walks while I was there. So I didn’t capture all there was to see there, but what I did I think is worthwhile sharing here and hope you like them. As I travel to different areas, I am always so amazed on how different nature is not to mention the culture and scenery. Some things are the same but not much. These photos were taken in Lahaina from the beach walk area. Some of the exotic fowl may not be indigenous to the island and roamed free on the hotel resorts.

Couldn't decide which one I liked best, so I added both!

This is a picture of the western Maui coast at night, from the beach. The lights are from various resorts and whatnot that line this portion of the coast.

Being so far south allowed me to see some things I don't usually get to see :) Hawaii is far enough south that even the southern cross (Crux) peeks up into the night sky for a bit, but I never managed to see it.

This picture was a 30 second exposure, 28mm, F/2.8.
