Aerial of Ukumehame Gulch, Maui, Hawaii. Ukumehame Gulch is located south of Lahaina in west Maui. The upper reaches of Ukumehame Gulch flow from the wet interior of the West Maui Mountains through deep valleys that cut through a dense volcanic dike system.
Mākena State Park, 165-acre beachside park contains three separate beaches and a dormant volcanic cinder cone. We stopped at the Little Beach, also known as Puʻu Ōlaʻi Beach, just north of Big Beach separated by a steep lava outcropping (the tip of Puʻu Ōlaʻi). The beach is only 660 feet long.
