This is one of my favorite photos that I took with my old D70 before upgrading to the D200. Since the upgrade I've been going through many old images and analyzing them or fixing them for Flickr. I took this one with the 18-70mm with a slim polarizing filter that doesn't cause vignetting on its own, thus the consistent lighting throughout the difficult overcast view. I guess I don't need to say much about the beauty of the North Shore of Maui...enjoy!
These are some additional shots of flowers from the Kula Botanical Garden located in upcountry Maui. The elevation is roughly 3,000 feet and the temperatures always seem just right. Not sure what most of them are, but hope you enjoy the beauty.

The sun sets behind Lanai, as seen from just below Lahaina at day's end on Maui.
Typical for winter in Hawaii, both the air and water temperatures were in the high 70's. We had a wonderful 8 days with almost our whole family, including 6 grandkids. Everyone had a great time, and no one wanted to come home! This is the view from the back of our condo at Puamana. If you have a good eye, you can see two whales spouting far in the distance. See the note on the picture.
Blended from three exposures.
Maui and her sister, Mollie, were the calicoes in a four kitten litter we loved for nearly 16 years.
This was one of the more "boring" mornings in Maui, where I took a stroll next to the boat launch ramp in Kihei. I realize I like rocks leading to far away islands in pictures...
This was taken from the beach at Ka'anapali Beach Club, just north of Ka'anapali Beach on Maui. The island on the horizon at the right (hiding in the clouds) is Molokai.
Sunset over Lanai and Molokai as seen from Ka'anapali, Maui. Processed in ON1 Raw 2017 and Lightroom CC 2017.
