I have enjoyed drawing red squirrels lately and there is a huge collection of them in Wolfgang's photostream! This is a composition of two different photos - I wonder if he can find them!
L'Universo è fatto di materia. Tuttavia la fisica e gli esperimenti hanno rivelato l'esistenza della cosiddetta anti-materia. In tutto e per tutto simile alla materia normale, in apparenza, dà origine a dei fenomeni sconcertanti: se fate avvicinare la materia e l'antimateria, spariscono istantaneamente... e si trasformano in onde di grande energia, che si allontanano alla velocità della luce... ma vale anche il viceversa: se si fanno "scontrare" due raggi di luce di grande energia, si può creare materia ed antimateria, così.. dal nulla...
Questa è una delle cose più straordinarie della Natura... la luce crea la materia ma anche il suo alter ego... come uno yin yang che si intreccia nel cosmo.
Ma è così lontana da noi, l'antimateria? Se qualcuno di voi ha mai sentito parlare dell'esame medico chiamato PET, ebbene... si basa proprio sull'utilizzo di positroni, piccole particelle di antimateria che permettono di esaminare, ancora più profondamente, la materia di cui siamo fatti...
La prossima volta che alzerete gli occhi al cielo, in un luogo buio, a guardare le stelle... ricordatevi anche di questo... se potete. So che... la materia è ostica, ma non per questo è meno affascinante

The milky way reflecting onto Tenaya Lake in the Sierra Nevada Mountains. I am still blown away by how much light pollution there is around the San Franvisco Bay Area, but I am glad within a few hours I can get this view, I sure hope that it stays this way. Thankful to get to enjoy this view with some awesome buds.
The antennae of the male longhorn moth can be 4 to 5 times its own size. I bet this will impress the females 😃!

This 19th century style of facades, rigorous yet ornamented, appeals to me a lot. In the B&W version, I tried to inflate this mood yet.

If you search Flickr, and for that matter anywhere on the internet, you'll find a lot of great photos of the Philadelphia skyline taken from the Spring Garden Street Bridge. The bridge stretches East to West and crosses the Schuylkill River and I76.
The reflections from the river (out of frame to my left) or the lights from the highway make a great foreground and when you add the skyline as the backdrop this site is a no-brainer and that's why it's so popular.
Anyway, I finally decided to breakdown and add this shot to my portfolio...however, I decided that I had to put my own spin on it...
The first time that I scoped out the site I didn't take any shots because I was quickly spooked by the speeding cars a few feet from my back and the unobstructed drop to the highway below...
Ok, so fast forward a few years later and I finally decided to make a trip back but this turned out to be a wasted trip too because the sky was too plain
Finally on my 3rd and last trip I was able to compose the shot that I wanted but it wasn't easy. As you can see I used the highway and the neighboring railroad in the foreground which created a unique juxtaposition. The problem was that I didn't want to shoot wide because the skyline would too far away so I choose to zoom in and do a 27 shot pano.
So as the sun set over I76 and I was finally able to get the shot I wanted...Whew! I'm glad that's over with...
