This is what the Devil's Fingers Fungus (Clathrus archeri) looks like before it 'hatches' from its 'egg' - the resemblance to the folds of a human cerebrum is very spooky indeed : )

Having fun with the Pixite Matter and Frax fractal software apps.

It is interesting to me how difficult times help us to evaluate priorities, bringing into focus things that matter most.

At a protestation on the front lawn of the Parliament Building in Ottawa Ontario Canada for the treatment and murders of countless indigenous children in the residencial school system run by the catholic church... What a shame... Its beyong words what the church did. no amount of apologies or money will repair what they did. All religions are scams for money and power. How many more has to die and suffer in the name of a god...

What Black Lives Matter Means (and Why It's Problematic to Say "All Lives Matter")

Saying that black lives matter doesn't mean that other lives do not.

What Does Black Lives Matter Mean?

Black Lives Matter is an anthem, a slogan, a hashtag, and a straightforward statement of fact. While it is not a new movement, the message is central to the nationwide protests happening right now. BLM speaks out against the police brutality and systemic racism that caused the recent deaths of George Floyd, Ahmaud Arbery, Tony McDade and Breonna Taylor, as well as the thousands of violent incidents that happen to Black people that aren’t recorded, aren’t reported or aren’t afforded the outrage they deserve. At its most basic level, it calls for a shift in the statistics that Black people are twice as likely to be killed by a police officer while unarmed, compared to a white individual. According to a 2015 study, African Americans died at the hands of police at a rate of 7.2 per million, while whites were killed at a rate of 2.9 per million.

Hello, dearest ones!! Well, no need to introduce again this divine piece of land of Holland, where the Floral Art of The Master Artist and the human Artists, perform blooming and landscape miracles…I hope, you become happy with these photos, like I am…

*** I just would wish to inform you now, that at least during the two(2) following days, I have to remain lying in bed on my back, because I have an annoying back-crisis….. Why?? Not, because I carried something heavy… But , because this last week I became….utterly Flickr-holic!!! Most of you know why…. Sitting during the ¾ of the day-hours in front of my computer , has been devastating for my back, which suffers since my 3d child was born…I have learnt to live with this problem, though, which – like my doctor says – it is a common problem of the ¾ inhabitants of our Planet, no matter their age and their extra kilos … As you know, I am a…crazy gardener!! But in the garden, I NEVER ever had any back problems!!! It seems that we are divinely protected , when we are Nature’s co-workers….But not, when we are computer-holics, even when we just ADORE watching Nature-captures, …especially during these cold, un-inspiring , Winter months..

** See you in two days, I hope… Hugs!

Mea Culpa: I was taking a series of shots of this Lady Bug in the middle of some pretty lavender blossoms. It was moving around. Several of the images are pretty nice, and I intended one for Flickr.

I found this one, though, and chose it instead. It is NOT as good as the others, but because of the split second in time captured, it seemed the money shot. Subject matter and pose trumped the somewhat sharper beauty images in the blooms.

BUT...I've learned something completely new. Lady bugs open their 'shell' and wings ONE AT A TIME, not both simultaneously. You can see this in the comment box photo immediately below. Perhaps, for knowledge's sake, THAT is really the payoff photo.

(fragment of a diary found on the southern slope of Mount Etna, Year 2193)

They say the world has ended.

That the surface is just a carbonized memory

of what once was.

And yet, beneath every step,

the earth still trembles.

It no longer speaks to humans —

it doesn’t need to.

It has learned to exist alone,

to expand in silence,

to become memory.

He stands still, on the ridge.

He seeks nothing.

He lets himself be crossed.

Here, time stretches.

Becomes a crack. A breath. A pause.

And maybe this

is what remains after every civilization:

a man listening,

a mountain breathing,

a silence too alive

to be called emptiness.

--------------------------------------------

Materia che respira

(frammento di diario trovato sul versante sud dell’Etna, Anno 2193)

Dicono che il mondo sia finito.

Che la superficie sia solo un ricordo carbonizzato

di ciò che fu.

Eppure, sotto ogni passo,

la terra vibra.

Non parla più agli umani —

non ne ha bisogno.

Ha imparato a esistere da sola,

a espandersi in silenzio,

a farsi memoria.

Lui è fermo, sul crinale.

Non cerca nulla.

Si lascia attraversare.

Qui il tempo si dilata.

Si fa crepa. Respiro. Attesa.

E forse è questo

che resta alla fine di ogni civiltà:

un uomo in ascolto,

una montagna che respira,

un silenzio troppo vivo

per essere chiamato vuoto.

I’ve been watching “Fisk”, an terrific Australian TV series, where coffee is super important to their work day. I can take it or leave it, even though my workplace has wonderful coffee machines. I cycle through the options - coffee, tea, herbal tea, hot chocolate, water.

Binding matters almost black and white.

It is often a matter of minutes whether you get the picture or not. After all, it has proven many times that the moment is not waiting for you. This morning the weather had been a bit gloomy so I did not expect anything, I was just going to be calm and do less than nothing if that was possible.

Suddenly I saw where the morning sun crept from under the thick cloud and gave off a beautiful red-yellow light. I looked out the window towards Krikjubæjarklaustur and saw that there was a sun stripe over the town.

The drone was quickly assembled, put in the air and boom. After a few shots, the sun disappeared again and was not seen again that day.

I will catch up on all of your fantastic photos soon..went straight from work to support the rights of those who are transgendered and continue to be oppressed . A parent recently asked me what I thought about those who are transgendered and I explained to her that I've known Kindergarteners who felt like they were in the wrong body...if a child of 5 or 6 can feel so strongly about this...well, you know all of this legislation comes from a place of not only pure hate but pure ignorance.

Trans Lives Matter is not just about bathrooms, though that legislation is also filled with hate and ignorance. But, Trans Lives Matter goes beyond that into providing a healthy society and supports for those who want to indeed be productive members of society-who have the right to be loved and respected. This world is big enough to welcome everyone. It's shameful that Trump has persecuted everyone but himself and his rich white friends. He doesn't have a clue what it might be like to be a decent human being.

A pinhole 4 image 'Small World' at Glasgow Necropolis today, taken on Ortho Lith.

Took some size comparison pics for a friend of me and Flora so she'd get a bit better grip on the MSD size.

Blue is the male principle, stern and spiritual. Yellow the female principle, gentle, cheerful and sensual. Red is matter, brutal and heavy and always the colour which must be fought and vanquished by the other two.

A rich habitat of particulate matter "thriving" on and near a clay pot. An amazing hidden world that I discovered when I lifted up another clay pot that was nested on top of it.

Some consider the circle a magical symbol. The perfect circle has no beginning and no end. You could say it unifies spirit and matter. The circle is a symbol of equality. Think of King Arthur's Round Table. The Dalai Lama has a circular Council. None of this is very scientific, just some rambling thoughts on the mystical power of the circle.

Today is the sesquicentennial of the signing of The Metre Convention by seventeen nations.

A metre matters. That little sentence is a handy reminder to not run down cyclists. Sadly, it originated from the death of Amy Gillett in a training accident. As part of the Australian women's cycling team, training for the Thüringen Rundfahrt der Frauen, she died as a consequence of a vehicle crashing into the training squad.

For the rest of us, metrication have been of lesser consequence — it's not life and death. Of those seventeen original signatories, only one has not implemented the system of weights and measures that are the most visible elements of the convention.

Unremarkably, today is also World Metrology Day. This rushed snapshot of one of my handy measuring tools is a placeholder to celebrate the importance of measurement in our modern world.
