But Do They...
120 First Nation communities in Canada still have long term water advisories.
Only 14 of the 94 calls to action from the Truth & Reconciliation Commission have been completed
Many children in northern communities have to attend school in southern communities away from their family and communities or they have to attend online school (remember how well that went during COVID)
However, there is hope, I see it every time I attend a pow wow, visit a First Nation community, see First Nation people achieving their goals. Things are changing.

We were delighted to team up with R&A Collaborations for a day of discussion, making and playing with stuff! It was hosted at the Institute of Making workshop surrounded by wondrous materials on Monday 1st December.
The morning involved foray into the world of materials with our creative director Zoe Laughlin, followed by a thought-provoking talk by PhD student in Anthropology Elizabeth Corbin about her research into makespaces. This was followed by a series of object-led introductions from all 38 makers, showing the wide array of materials and processes being experimented with in contemporary craft.
After a super-tasty lunch it was time to play with materials, explore the library and get creative. Makers got a chance to experiment with materials outside their normal palette, with wonderful results.
It was an inspiring day and generated lots of new ideas. Thank you to Richard and Arron for helping to arrange the day and to all the makers who attended.
