Cairns, Queensland, Australia
It is interesting to see different members of a bird species in different habitats around the globe. This Lapwing picture was taken in a cemetery near downtown Cairns in Queensland. I have also just posted images of lapwings taken in the Kalahari desert in Botswana; in north-central Bolivia near the Bolivian pantanal; and in the Andean mountains of Ecuador.

We went to Chichen Itza to look at the famous pyramid, and the other Mayan ruins. I was also interested in taking pictures of birds in the area, so I had the bird lens and a wide-angle for the architecture.
BUT... I wasn't allowed in with my big "professional lens." Even if my Tamron 150-600 was a professional lens (it isn't), it made no sense to me. It still makes no sense to me... Oh well.
While going back to the car to put my bird-lens away, I saw this Masked Tityra in a tree.
This Masked Lapwing was foraging on the grass verge beside the Princes Highway and so wasn't at all bothered by my presence/
While cycling around the marina in the search for otters i found this strange looking bird, a masked lapwing, (sometimes called spur-winged plover due to their sharp spurs at the wings which they use to attack other animals) This bird is not native to Singapore and can usually be found in Australia or New Zealand. A couple years ago some individuals escaped from Singapore Zoo and have adapted quite well in several spots around the city, they're also breeding since a couple years. Gardens by the bay, Singapore
