The variety is "Peron" grown from starts given to me by a friend who collects and saves the seed every year.
for Irish Dawn. Mandala is a 3 yr old Milky Eagle Owl from Africa. He is an Animal Ambassador for Zoo Atlanta. He flies in the Wildlife Theater show and does guest encounters.
I am going to try to add an original Mandala each day. It helps keep me calm at my age !
This will be on top of the photo and graphic image each day. The Mandala will be an extra graphic.
I make my own black black and white backgrounds that I then painstakingly fill shape after shape with a different frame. If anyone wants to use these background I can send a set of those direct to you.

This weeks mandala was all about finding scrapes of material in my yard to work with. The only "fresh" thing was the fern leaves and the Willow leaves all the rest were on the ground already.
The list of ingredients:
pine cone "petals"
acorn tops
marigolds, dried
Japanese fern
weeping Willow
flowers from Rose of Sharon
seeds from Dogwood
Center:
peach pit
dried mushroom capped with part of the Rose of Sharon

Project "12 polymer projects 2013" continues and i think this is the first time i've got little bit sad, cause only two mandala elephants left and it will be done. I know, i know, there's always possibility to continue (and i will), but the thing is, it feels like yesterday i've made the first one.

I am making mandalas to increase my ability to find peace and calm during these shocking & horrible times in my country. My inspiration comes from my Buddhism. Viewers are invited to make their own meanings. I am using things in my cupboards, from my walls and garden and trying to focus my mind on the goodness and compassion I know still exist at hand & in this world.

I was waiting for August for a while, cause i did my homework some time ago. This is mandala elephant for August and let me tell you about the process how i made it.
So, the middle part is emboss i made using selfmade stamp, which was made with a modeling tool - metal skewer from Sculpey (Etch ‘N Pearl). How does the stamp look? The same as middle part for this emeralnd elephant www.flickr.com/photos/kniiknii/9346760786/. Other parts are made of extruded polymer clay yarns. Can nature be more exquisite during the spring and fall? All of this came from my front yard. I could have grabbed even more but the sun was setting and the mosquitoes were out with a vengeance since all this rain.
