Back in the winter of 2023, an early morning Kusatsu Limited Express service for Ueno speeds over the Karasu River bridge just outside the city of Takasaki.
Built in 1988, the 651 Series were built by Kawasaki Heavy Industries for JR East. These trains were originally allocated to JR's Joban Line for express service from Ueno to Sendai. However, they were ultimately relocated to the Takasaki Line to live out its final decade in service starting in 2014. They weren't popularly used, and even to railfans, not a lot of attention was given to its retirement in 2023. Despite their...unique appearance, they were a welcome site on the now homogenized Takasaki Line. May it rest in pieces.

The Macro Mondays theme for tomorrow, 9/12, is low key so I’m trying pictures with low light using my Iphone’s camera— a bit of a challenge to be sure!
Will also post some later *from* my beloved canon870, a point and shoot that I love using for macros but haven’t used for a while, during my 6 month experimenting with the iPhone that has now gone on for 20 months. (Please don’t hate me for that run-on sentence— grin)

Celebration of another week in Paradise, Tavernier, Florida Keys, Lat 25.
This was aa random Hipstamatic shuffle, one of maybe a dozen combinations of film and lens. Sadly, no longer imbedded in the exif, so I don’t know the exact combination which could easily be in the hundreds.
Nevertheless, very pleased with the low key effect and unintended rule of thirds.
