Nearly 13 years ago I uploaded my first photo to Flickr. The image was taken of the inside of an unusual lamp that had a circular tubed lightbulb, something I had never seen before. For the Flickr Social group's Flickr Birthday challenge I've done my best to "recreate" that photo. None of the lamps around me have a similar bulb, so I had to improvise a little.

On December 9 Australian landscape photographer Peter Lik set the record for the most expensive photograph when his work, “Phantom,” (shot in Arizona’s Antelope Canyon) sold for $6.5 million dollars.

Who says you can’t make money in photography?

Help me break Peter Lik’s record-breaking sale by purchasing my photograph that I’ll simply call, “Cortés’ Cuernavaca.” My capture of Hernán Cortés palace in Cuernavaca, Mexico during the blue hour will make a great Christmas gift!

I accept all major credit cards, PayPal and cash in a large, brown envelope.

For the lucky buyer I will even have Santa Claus deliver your large framed print in person just in time for Christmas!

The city of Cuernavaca (kwehr-nah-vah-kah), the capital of Morelos state, is where Spanish conquistador Hernán Cortés called home while “residing” in Mexico and built his enormous palace-fortress (now the Museo de Cuauhnáhuac) that now occupies the city zocalo (plaza).

The Aztecs called the city Cuauhnáhuac (“place by the woods”) and the Spaniards changed the name to Cuernavaca (“cow horn”) because they had a hard time pronouncing Cuauhnáhuac.

Merry Christmas my Flickr friends!

And it has created the word “solitude” to express the glory of being alone." – Paul Tillich

I spent more time in Vietnam than any other country I visited in Southeast Asia because I found the country fascinating, photogenic and frustrating.

Let’s focus on the photogenic part.

Mui Ne is not only known for its amazing coastline, but also for its rich red sand dunes. The coastal charms of Mui Ne was a direct contrast to the motorbike filled concrete jungle of Saigon.

In Mui Ne I enjoyed great weather, great beaches and the photogenic sand dunes. You can read about how I captured this scene from this previous post Good Morning Vietnam!

Check back for more of my adventures in Vietnam!

Happy Travels!

The roots is what you have, everybody got their roots. It depends on the person how deep the roots go. If you have them or if you want to find them, it's up to the person.

Week 8/52

Theme "Unusual Perspective"

2/18/23

The image presents a captivating urban landscape, showcasing towering skyscrapers from an eye-catching perspective. The camera angle is directly below the buildings as they reach skywards towards the bright blue expanse above.

These modern architectural marvels display sleek lines and reflective glass surfaces that capture the surrounding cityscape and natural elements such as clouds in their mirrored facades. As a result, we see vibrant reflections of both urban life and serene skies intertwined harmoniously on these imposing structures.
