Some of weeks ago (during my banning from FB), while waiting for the slide film of a Miranda S Test to be processed, I spotted a LOMOChrome Purple film, in a photo shop I check out frequently. And I couldn't resist the curiosity, being the results so reminiscent of infra-red and cross processed film (which I like so much). So I decided to give it a try. However, not being sure if everything was fine with the Miranda (which turned out with a cut curtain-later repaired), I was left only with the old Asahiflex IIb that came with the Takumar 58mm f2.4, quite some time ago. A camera so far I used only for... 'decoration'. Fortunately it worked pretty well - marvels of the golden age of camera making - and I was quite satisfied with the results, considering that I have not been shooting color film (and in complete manual mode) since years. I am particularly happy with the results of the precious chrome Takumar 83mm f1.9. A very beautiful portrait lens, I have to say. Will post some later.
I still need to understand well, when and how the film reacts better to produce purples and greens, but I really like the results. A bit of grain here is the fault also of the low-res film scan: the prints are way smoother. Unfortunately the shop refuses to do high-res scan to avoid losing printing customers, knowing that digitally reproducing negatives is not that straightforward task you can do with one single command or in batch. But, don't worry... we have also Pentax Film Duplicator.
Second model Asahiflex II b starts around noº 52117.
Differences:
- vertical lug for straps.
- bold arrow on rewind knob
- smaller AOCO logo, slimmer type
- filled triangles instead of arrows
- different design on shutter time dial
- flash sync X in red
- bold type arrow on winder in bold type
- logo on the back removed.
Finally just before moving on E484-013 heads south to Italy via Luino. Having seen this loco go north earlier, it appeared to be on a diagram just between Milano and Bellinzona, where the consist would be worked north by other traction ( probably Re10/10 ) Fuji 100 slide, basic low res scan

The Samedan-Lanquart 'core ' freight normally follows RE1136. RhB freights are generally good for time and wholly predictable. Meter gauge freight wagons are used for everyday goods such as the CO-OP because many roads are not passable in the Winter. Fuji 100 slide- low res scan

Nearly the same view in May 1976. The then recent blue/cream livery applied to class 141-354 arriving on a stopper that would reverse as push=pull fitted 'silver-fish' set of coaches. Sorry about the ropey low res scan, but I thought I'd add this as a contrast to my latest visit to Scotland's largest city last weekend. This then was taken on the occasion of my first. Mrs 'R' (to be) and I had arrived there courtesy of the then relatively new Cotter's overnight executive express service from that bombsite in London which passed for a coach station, known as Gloucester Road. Glasgow had at the time, much to offer the transport enthusiast though with the expensive cost of film, nowhere near as much as should have been recorded, was.
Here a Central Bristol FS type Lodekka AGM 707B powers downhill away from Buchanan Bus Station towards the city centre. From memory, the date would have been circa 1981.
The Squantum Yacht Club on Wollaston Beach in Quincy, MA. Of course, I've never seen one yacht or even any smaller boats associated with the Club, so I guess it's pretty much used for social gatherings of one form or another.
Not the first picture I've taken of this subject, but for this particular shot I used an Olympus Stylus Epic Zoom 80 35mm point and shoot camera with Kodak Gold ISO 400 film. Had the negatives developed and digitally (low res) scanned at a CVS one hour photo. Edited final image using Adobe Photoshop Elements & NIK Color Efex Pro.

This image is the first in a series (a low res scan seen here) captured on Fuji Acros 100 film and was taken outside of a newly constructed Armenian Church. I was told that all of the exterior stone was brought in from Armenia. I found some old photos I had shot fifty years ago at this time. I was an assistant manager of the Woolco Department Store at the Meridian Mall in Okemos, Michigan. Though I really wasn't supposed to be taking real photos with the demo cameras in the display case, I went ahead and did it anyway. I think I took this when things got quiet after Christmas. I was working more hours, as I was on Christmas break from college, but most of my time was spent restocking shelves and keeping the department looking clean.
Whenever I took a photo, I had stayed behind the counter, so as to give the impression I was just "checking out" the demos. Senior management frowned upon anyone walking around the store with a still camera, even if it was an employee who worked in the camera department.
I was using a Minolta, though what model, I can't recall. I shot Ektachrome Tungsten, rated at ASA 160. In using this stock, which was balanced for 3200 degree Kelvin lighting, I ended up having to deal with the florescent lights, which are largely cyan in color temperature. I had to fix this in Photoshop. I also had a low-res scan done on the reversal stock.
Anyway, I used a Minolta SLR, with a 50mm lens, with Ektachrome Tungsten (ASA 160) as my film stock.

I'm still learning how this lens works on a 35mm film body. One thing for sure, shooting wide open certainly gives an amazingly shallow depth of field! I normally shoot on one of three Panasonic Lumix bodies with various M43 lenses, and wonder how this lens would work using a converter? Same depth of field?

a very grainy low res scan and BW treatment of a 120 E6 positive color strip i had developed today. i didnt feel like waiting the three days for the lab to get around to enlarging and printing. i brought it home and slapped it on the scanner. i'll take the strip in later for some decent prints, but this is the first medium format shot im remotely proud of (and thats more for the moment that it captured than the quality of the photo - i want to pay homage to the fantastic and inspirational photography of Susan B. When i get teethgnashingly frustrated with the unforgiving whims of film and think the whole effort is for not, i pour through her stream and see the promise and art of great medium and toy format photography...and i try again.
