Standing on the steps of the Lincoln memorial looking out towards the Washington monument was amazing.
Theme of The Week - Poem Sonnet 18 Shakespeare
Shall I compare thee to a summer’s day?
Thou art more lovely and more temperate:
Rough winds do shake the darling buds of May,
And summer’s lease hath all too short a date;
Sometime too hot the eye of heaven shines,
And often is his gold complexion dimm'd;
And every fair from fair sometime declines,
By chance or nature’s changing course untrimm'd;
But thy eternal summer shall not fade,
Nor lose possession of that fair thou ow’st;
Nor shall death brag thou wander’st in his shade,
When in eternal lines to time thou grow’st:
So long as men can breathe or eyes can see,
So long lives this, and this gives life to thee.
I haven't spent much time since college actually doing laundry at a laundromat. Now I like to find them in small times to make images with my pinhole and film cameras. Found this one in a small town on my way home from Mt Rainier in Washington.
Taken with my Hasselblad 500CM and a 50mm lens.
Are you tired of looking out the window for spiritual reality and coming up disappointed? Where is God? Where is the love and peace I need from Him? Well, it begins at the cross, where you say those two words with all your heart - "for me." If you want to belong to this Jesus, would you tell Him that right now? Why don't you look His way? Jesus is everything your heart has ever looked for.

Working on drawings in the woodland at Camp Walden. Alongside the large paintings I also drew a number of full sized charcoal drawings en situ and filled a number of sketchbooks.
Dave, our Canadian "moose-cot" along on our road trip was feeling the Memphis blues ... looking down at our hotel pool in Memphis Tennessee. A swim would be a good thing after a day at Graceland and before heading out to an evening on Beale Street. Alas, no moose allowed and Dave can only watch from our 6th floor window.
Her: "Just think after we cross the bridge, we can go there! We can be happy there..."
Him: "I'm still not sure if I should come"
Her: "I am."
and they gazed out to the horizon together, not knowing that the next day everything would chage for the worse

Buhat se hast ke hissay
Buhat si gardishen guzreen
Buhat si pat-jarhain thehreen
Buhat se khuwab aankhon ke
Buhat se karb saanson ke
Buhat si jaan ba lab Yaaden
Buhat si bakht ki Ghaaten

Woh baaten tum se karni hain
Kabhi tou laut kar aao!

Kashgar is the administrative centre of the Kashgar Prefecture of the Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region, It is the heart of the Uighur people's region – China's Muslim Turkic minority – as well as one of the historical commercial towns on the Silk Road, The city is currently undergoing major transformations in the name of modernization and economic development, For these reasons, the Chinese governement is currently destroying the old town of Kashgar and intends to re-house about 200,000 people in the coming years, in new and alledgedly earthquake-proof buildings, These destructions are seen by the international community as an unecessary destruction of what is considered a world’s cultural heritage, According to the Chinese governement, the historical aspect of Kashgar will be preserved by keeping a part of the old town as an open-air museum, Yet, these transformations are also perceived by Uyghur activists and their supporters as a threat to the Uighur people’s lifestyle by dispersing them in new storey-buildings in a clear and simple urban space, a way, according to them, to improve surveillance and control over this people, Even though they are sorry for the destructions, a part of the Uyghurs however sees their moving as an improvement of their living conditions with access to running water and more comfort

For what is operative here is by no means the merely psychological advantage of the more recent impression but the subordination of all particular convictions, whether they be formed at an earlier or a later period of time, to eternal truths and objective standards of judgment. Thus, continuity is a condition, not only for stable orientation but also for intellectual progress itself. It is on the basis of continuity that we are able to preserve established truths and at the same time to supplement them with new ones, both in the sense of an extension of the breadth of knowledge, and of a reinterpretation of old truths in the light of insights newly acquired.

Picture Color Day 22: Calm Color
White adirondack chairs on a green lawn and yellow sun streaming through the window symbolize summer calm to me.
Tracey asked us to focus in a way that would avoid the clutter around us and show us the calm in the view. My in-laws' home is never cluttered (unlike mine!), but right under this window are the dog food bowls, and when they have lots of guests, our shoes and bags creep over to this area and kids and dogs are always running through, so this does indeed look a lot calmer than it actually is.
Honestly I was tempted to call this photo "Other People's Lives," but that wouldn't have fit the prompt, would it? Right now I'm having a difficult time being the person who sits in a spot like that. I find I'm often looking out from inside.
Because of that, I've decided to cut down my Flickr time in July (not cutting it out altogether -- what a terrifying thought!) to give myself more time both to get things done and to experience life. Spending less time on Flickr isn't the only thing that will help, but I think it will be a good thing.
Black Friday brought out the shoppers and with the rain and gusty winds made driving virtually impossible. however viewed from the comfort of a first bus in Bristol and some handheld night shots yah baby
A very quick shot taken at Chubu International Airport. I'm on a black-and-white kick at the moment.

It's got a little chin problem, but this light was just right for this space. And against the cloudy sky, even better.
From Emerald Lake in Yoho National Park in Alberta, Canada - we started a hike. We didn't mean to get all the way up to the Burgess Shale Fossil formations (where they found many fossils from the 'Cambrian Explosion' that include the first Chordate which eventually gave rise to all vertebrates, ourselves included) but we decided to do the entire 13 mile loop anyway.
By the end, we were tired, thirsty, and hungry and we basically ran back down the mountain to our car and ate at the closest diner. Unfortunately, we didn't find or see any fossils. The view was nice though!
I'm now on 500px too. Any Flickr contacts feel free to add me there and I'll follow you too! Not sure how I feel about it yet...
This was one of the biggest reasons I was excited to come back to school. I have a balcony in my dorm room which is perfect for pictures. Day 10's picture was taken there as well.

Oh, and those smudges on the window? Yeah, it's just dirt. Not a texture. :]
Explored. Highest position #259. I've been explored every time I've uploaded as of late. So proud of myself. ;]

A daily record of a woodland that I've been familiar with for 34 years. It is good to record these places in a very personal way come rain or shine. I like to see the place without making anything picturesque, rather setting down what's before me at different times of day and not overworking each piece, keeping it spontaneous and fresh. Inspired by Charles Burchfield and Emily Carr among others. In some ways a pendant to my Simon's wood series and to be part of my Looking Out exhibition.
