Typical May 24 weekend weather. Our long weekend is known for being dreary and even sometimes frosty.

when you look at this image, do you feel safe and protected, or do you feel empathy for the wounded? or do you feel both?

Rubus spectabilis, the salmonberry, is a species of bramble in the rose family Rosaceae, native to the west coast of North America from west-central Alaska to California, inland as far as Idaho. Like many other species in the genus Rubus, the salmonberry plant bears edible fruit, typically yellow-orange or red in colour, resembling raspberries in appearance.

Bowen Lookout is one of the hikes in Cypress Mountain. This hike is a very short one (1 to 1.5 hour completion) but you get see Bowen Island from a very good angle. I will say that this trail is a good start for beginners (like my fiance).

There were so many small animals and birds on the way to the viewpoint. Many of these chipmunks are so friendly that they kept approaching us thinking that we would give them food. Too bad, we don't have any food to share and it is not recommended to feed any wildlife animals :)

Location: Bowen Lookout, BC (Cypress Mountain)

Simple view down from Hradcany castle to the city of Prague. This day was not my first day in capital of Czech Republic, but it was a definite first time of such a great amount of tourists on that day

My wife and I don't compete with each other when we're spending time together. Nooooo! Ok, fine, - you got me first on this one! Either way, it was great fun to spend the day outside on the water.

Victoria Day, holiday, long weekend,

Neptune Bulks Terminals,

Keith-Lynn, North Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada

Victoria Day is a federal Canadian public holiday celebrated on the last Monday preceding May 25. Initially in honour of Queen Victoria's birthday, it has since been celebrated as the official birthday of Canada's sovereign. It is informally considered to be the beginning of the summer season in Canada.

North America's largest multi-product bulk shipping terminal, Neptune Bulk Terminals is jointly owned by Canpotex (the world's largest exporter of potash), Teck Resources Ltd (Canada's largest mining company and a major metallurgical coal producer) and Bunge Canada (a major agri-business conglomerate). The terminal handles metallurgical coal, potash, specialty grains and agri-products, fertilizers, canola oil, and phosphate rock and Cargill.

Improvements to coal train handling in early 2011 have increased coal handling capacity to 12 million tonnes per year, and longer unit trains can now be unloaded. Planning for a further expansion to 18 million tonnes is underway. This will involve a new dumper along with conveyor systems. Berth 1 is used to load coal onto ships.

Neptune currently has the capacity to handle 10.5 million tonnes per year of potash. Potash ship loading facilities are at Berth 2.

Neptune is also planning to build an unloading terminal, storage and handling facilities for imported phosphate rock. This plan will reinstate operations as they were when the terminal handled this product between the late 1960s and 2003. Berth 3 will be modified for unloading ships. This project is expected to be completed by summer 2014.

I learned something new this weekend. I learned how to do long exposure. I was surprised that it was so easy! Be sure to zoom in :)

When we moved here almost 24 years ago, there were not many trees to speak of, and we could practically see all the homes on our crescent. Today is a different story.

It's a long weekend here in Canada. And there are neighbours, fireworks, excited children and lots of sparklers to go around. :)
