In the Senate Chamber, at the east end of the Centre Block, red carpeting and upholstery and a ceiling of gold leaf create an air of regal splendour to signify the place where our Head of State meets Parliament. The names of former governors general are carved in the ceiling. The Chamber’s upper walls are lined with murals depicting stirring scenes from the First World War. Below them, images of Canada’s flora and fauna are carved in stone and wood.

Happy BC Day long weekend to my Vancouver friends!

The view from Accademia bridge in Venice was probably my favourite. Just wonderful, with the Palazzo Cavalli-Franchetti in the foreground and the magnificent Basilica di Santa Maria della Salute in the distance. Especially nice at dawn with only a handful of other people on it!

Long weekend humming: "Betcha goin' fishin' all of your time, baby's goin' fishing too. Bet your life, your sweet life, catch more fish than you. Many fish bites if ya got good bait..." Taj Mahal.

Everytime I see this picture, it gives me a feeling of calmness like none other!

Happy Fence Friday Everybody !!

Have a Spiritual Good Friday and Easter Sunday Everyone :0)

I guess this one won't end up in a children's book, LOL, so I am sharing it with a wish to all my Canadian friends to enjoy the long Victoria Day weekend; but if you drink, do it responsibly, and don't drive. :-)

TGIF, finally! Today is a chill day for me, I’m so glad I didn’t have to go to work. I’m looking forward to 4th of July celebration, it’s time for barbecue and fireworks! It’s also my grandmother’s 92nd birthday so it’s a double celebration. Quality time with family, great food and lots of sunshine to enjoy on my 3-day weekend sounds like a lot of fun, yay!!

Happy nifty fifty Friday and have a fantastic weekend dear friends! Be safe in whatever you do! :)

Hurrah for a long weekend! We have a day off today at work and while I don't celebrate Easter (or any other religious holidays for that matter), I am planning to thoroughly enjoy this extra day. Starting now: coffee, brie, pears and - yes - flickr...

letters for the three wise men, the spanish santa

It turned out to be a lovely day for

the family day holiday. It was - 8 degrees C with an icy wind chill coming out of the north, but with the sun out, it was simply a gorgeous winter day. Better yet....the fishing was free.

286/365 I am so ready for the long weekend.

This is one of the very few digital frames I shot over the long weekend. I put three rolls through the Holga and several more through the Horizon. It'll be a couple weeks before I have them processed, but I'm looking forward to the results. It's more film than I've shot in quite a while.

It looks a little grainy when viewed large on the interweb, but I don't have time right now to figure out why I'm having problems with color AND grain when uploading. Flickr, why are you failing me now? I swear I'm going to extend my pro membership. I just haven't gotten around to it...

Fixing the color killed my EXIF. Here it is, for those who care:

My long weekend will be a busy one, it actually started last night with a get-together with friends / Flickr friends which was a lot of fun as expected, dinner with sister in law tonight, an event to go to with friends / Flickr friends on Saturday afternoon, go out of town with in laws and hubby on Sunday and be back on Tuesday morning.

Another thing, a message was waiting for me when I got home last night - my application to be a mentor for underprivileged kids has been accepted so I will be doing lots of volunteer work for the comings days. I will be away for a while in Flickr and very excited to give back. I think of giving not as a duty but as a privilege. Have a good one y’all, see you when I return :)
