The friendly conductor on Berkshire and Eastern Railroad train ED9 has lined the electrically locked switch off the industrial siding back for the main here just south of Elm St. at about MP S28.4. Having just finished spotting up two loaded hoppers at Nutrien Ag Solutions, as soon as the switch is locked back up they will head back light engine to gather the balance of their train left on the main to continue south to Hokyoke on the old Boston and Maine Conn River Main.
Note the hand painted station sign and the red house dating from 1870 which has been a backdrop to many glorious images of B&M blue GP9s on heavy through drags back when this route was a major freight corridor. While those glory days are gone, at least images like this are still possible which is better than so many other former B&M routes which are now just bike paths or dirt tracks in the woods...
Since Berkshire and Eastern Railroad has taken over operation of the Pan Am Southern property operations seem to have gotten much more predictable and consistent. At least outwardly their appears to be a bit more hustle and business seems to be on the uptick so hears hoping this this is a harbinger of even bigger and better things to come for the west end of the old Boston and Maine!

It was constructed in 1834 for the corn merchants J&C Sturge.
In 1979 the warehouse was converted into Gloucester Antiques Centre in which capacity it served until 2009. It has now been converted into residential apartments.

Lock 4 out of 16 on the canal at Marple.
Despite the rather overgrown look of it in this photo it is a very well used canal.

Actually, while I agree with the latter part of this statement, the first part isn't the greatest advice ever. It's inevitable that you'll get hurt if you open yourself up. Humans are most inventive of ways to fall short and fail others. But while it may never break, it will also never beat. Find a safe place to entrust your love: it will give you the strength to go forth and love, and a safe haven to return whenever you're smote.
We all love imperfectly, but to be human is to love.

In 1903, a penal colony known as Colônia Correcional was established at the former headquarters of Fazenda de Dois Rios (Ilha Grande, Brazil).
After 1931, when the road that gave access to Vila do Abraão was built, and having undergone many refurbishment its name was changed to Cândido Mendes Penal Institute.
Dangerous criminals were housed there until 1994, when the State Government had it imploded.

The Staghorn Sumac is looking good. You can see why I stop here for five minutes, (or longer).
The Memorial bench to Rob Maddock is on the site of the Lock Keeper's Cottage, where Rob was born. There were resident Mute Swans on the canal and Peacocks in the garden.

Lumphini Park is a green oasis in the centre of Bangkok. From the earliest hours of the morning Bangkok residents gather there to practise tai chi, play basketball, jog, chat and drink tea. And all of this amidst a gorgeous aroma of jasmine. Streams run through the park with reptiles up to 1.5 or 2 metres long and small, brightly coloured turtles. It's a fascinating sight. I was there at 6.15am and there were already several hundred people exercising. I spotted this shot on my way out - it's the lock of a large gate at one of the entrances.
No doubt that this morning's chat at the tea stalls, which are scattered throughout the park, was the ongoing demonstration. Around 20,000 people are said to be still within the grounds of Government House with a couple of thousand police surrounding them. But unlike last time (when the demonstrations led to Thaksin being deposed) the media has turned against them and there's a sense that this will wind down slowly but surely.
From the My Thai - a cocktail of shots set.
