When you're locked for life, you start to appreciate the small freedoms. The colors...

The lock building on a Thames island - like a structure displaced from a late-Victorian railway station.
The Lock Warehouse, Gloucester Docks, seen from Castle Meads. 29th March 2009.
It was constructed in 1834 for the corn merchants J&C Sturge.
In 1979 the warehouse was converted into Gloucester Antiques Centre in which capacity it served until 2009. It has now been converted into residential apartments.
At the end of the Stourbridge canal where it joins the Staffs & Worcs canal. When the pictures were taken work was suspended I guess due to the poor weather.

Lock 4 out of 16 on the canal at Marple.
Despite the rather overgrown look of it in this photo it is a very well used canal.

Actually, while I agree with the latter part of this statement, the first part isn't the greatest advice ever. It's inevitable that you'll get hurt if you open yourself up. Humans are most inventive of ways to fall short and fail others. But while it may never break, it will also never beat. Find a safe place to entrust your love: it will give you the strength to go forth and love, and a safe haven to return whenever you're smote.
We all love imperfectly, but to be human is to love.

Tent Lock is on the Erewash canal
This is where you attach the windlass to wind up the paddle on the lock. The water in the atmosphere was condensing on the cold metal.
