So after spending a day shooting in Rockport....working with a new camera, and trying out some artistic shots as well. I managed to delete all the photos I had taken.....so back out I went locally to work with the camera menus....so as not to make the same mistake twice....so here you have the local bird population...the red-winged blackbird

These two shots are the last of mine from the Flickr Walk. It really was a fantastic afternoon turned into evening and therefore must link to Wayne's most superior shot of us all.... at the Local.
Cheers!

Have been looking at some of this years files, and found some sky moods that have not been worked. This was already mostly B&W so I have worked on it as a B&W.

CSXT's D795-11 is westbound on the Hanover Subdivision about to cross Cold Springs Rd in Fairfield PA on January 11, 2022. Lead locomotive 8400 was built for the Western Maryland Railway in 1969 and was originally classed as an SD40. Sometime in the late 1980s-early 90s, it was rebuilt by VMV to SD40-2 specs.

The Pacific swallow is a small passerine bird in the swallow family. It breeds in tropical southern Asia and the islands of the south Pacific. It is resident apart from some local seasonal movements.
Wisconsin Central's L5150 local out of Schiller Park was pulling off of the interchange with the EJ&E after delivering some traffic to the J at Leithton back in 1998.
A nice Wisconsin Central GP30 was the motive power, which of course had been through here countless times before as a Soo Line motor.
BNSF's Cody Local (R-PWR8162-24) with a pair of former Burlington Northern SD70MACs, three loads from CertainTeed Gypsum & Ceiling in Cody, a former Santa Fe Ortner hopper, and a caboose (shoving platform), roll underneath Highway 14 in Garland, Wyoming. The local runs a round trip between Cody, Wyoming, and Frannie (the connection to BNSF's Casper Subdivision).
MARC F9PH #83 leads a three car local across Sunnyside Ave in Beltsville MD on the evening of July 11, 1991. The lush forest to the left of the train was about to be cleared for the Metrorail's new Greenbelt maintenance facility within the next year or so.

Yet another fresh Spring day.....same spot....more green!....I think this record of these will last some time yet
Blue Ridge Southern's afternoon local T73 heads out of Canton with a small consist of cars for the various industries in Waynesville. Power for the train is WAMX GP39-2 #3939, which started life as Deleware and Hudson 7606. It would later become Boston and Maine (Guilford) 366 and Union Pacific 2745/1245 before ending up on the BLU.
I was out in the mountains for the weekend attending orientation at my future home, Western Carolina University. You can certainly expect to see more BLUposting in the future, as it is the closest railroad to the university. The mountains are so incredibly cool, and offer endless opportunities for photos that I can't wait to experience.

Montana Rail Link’s Livingston Local is dropping down the west slope after cresting the 5702 foot summit of Bozeman on MRL’s 2nd Subdivision Mainline through the 3,015 foot long tunnel that was built by the Northern Pacific Railway in 1945. The little train is seen in a snow squall west of Chestnut near MP 131 winding along beside Rocky Creek in the valley they share with Interstate 90.
The MRL has operated the former NP mainline across its namesake state since 1987 when it entered into a long term lease of the line between Billings, MT and Sand Point, ID from NP successor Burlington Northern. While the majority of traffic on the MRL consists of overhead BNSF trains they do operate a pair of daily manifests of their own and assorted locals serving line side industries across the state.
On this cold snowy day the local is in command of a GP35 number 404. This locomotive most assuredly feels right at home in conditions like this as it was built new for the Rio Grande in January 1965 as DRGW 3043 and spent its first three decades crossing the Rockies and the likes of legendary routes such as the Moffatt Tunnel, Tennessee Pass, and Soldier Summit. And though it looks fine in Washington Companies blue paint I sure would prefer it in black and Grande gold!

the dog and I went to the local nature park for a walk decided to bring the camera this is was my favorite capture (besides the ones my dog... of course)
Following right on Keolis/MBTA 1705's block is CSXT local B731 seen coming through the turnout from Main 1 to single track here at MP 14.8 on the MBTA Franklin Line, the former New Haven Midland Division. The Readville to Framingham turn job is unusually light today with only two cars trailing their pair of GP40-2Ss. Norwood Central is still graced with a tidy little brick suburban station that was built by the NH in 1899.
Buried beneath the snow in the foreground is CSXT's East Walpole Industrial Track, the two mile long surviving stub of the old New Haven Wrentham Branch that into the 1960s was still a thru route to Valley Falls, RI.

We were sitting enjoying the view over the lake when a lovely White-plumed Honeyeater appeared on the drinking fountain and proceeded to slate it's thirst. In the time that it took to go to the car to get a camera, this bully had disposed of the Honeyeater and taken over the fountain.
Maggie Hambling's scallop, Aldeburgh
On Aldeburgh's beach, a short distance north of the town centre, stands a sculpture, The Scallop, dedicated to Benjamin Britten, who used to walk along the beach in the afternoons. Created from stainless steel by Suffolk-based artist Maggi Hambling, it stands 15 feet (4.6 m) high, and was unveiled in November 2003.[19] The piece is made up of two interlocking scallop shells, each broken, the upright shell being pierced with the words: "I hear those voices that will not be drowned", which are taken from Britten's opera Peter Grimes. The sculpture is meant to be enjoyed both visually and tactilely, and people are encouraged to sit on it and watch the sea. Approached along the road from the Thorpeness direction it has a totally different silhouette appearing to be a knight on a rearing charger.
The sculpture is controversial in the local area,[20] with some local residents considering it spoiling the beach.[19] It has been vandalised with graffiti and paint on 13 occasions.[19] There have been petitions for its removal and for its retention.[19]
Although it was the same unit, I feel pretty lucky to catch a HH twice within a week. P75 returns to Andrews Yard from the C-Line in Cayce, SC. March 28, 2020.
This evenings Bonner local with GP40 #500 cuts through the thick smoke entering Missoula yard. The refreshing scent of chipped pine off-set the burning pine scent for a brief moment.
Didn't see a train all day today so here is a shot from last year along the Devils Lake Sub. Traffic is sparse so you shoot what you can get.
For a time during 2004, CSX removed all the through trains from the Hoosier Sub, leaving only the local trains, J772 north and J781 south. Leaving New Albany around mid-day with a train consisting of empties loads for Pillsbury, loads for North Vernon, and cars for Seymour, Mitchell and Logootee, made for great chase, with shots at Borden, Pekin, Fogg, Campbellsburg, Leipsic and this final shot at Turners at MP 267.5 on this December 2004 day.
BNSF's Golden local works the yard in Golden, CO on a beautiful fall day. A pair of spiffy SD40-2s, both being former Santa Fe units, provide the power.
