The chance comes rarely for most fledgling bands to have a chance to play on a stage that houses some of the biggest stars in the entertainment business. That chance came for three regional bands to play on the Bobcat Stage at the York Expo Center during the York State Fair. Rocky 98.5 sponsored the contest, Battle of the Bands with KIX playing afterwards. Three bands were chosen after a period where they had to enter a song to the radio station. Rock Hollow from the Red Lion, PA area took the stage first, followed by Smokin Crow, and then Scarlet Angel, both from the Maryland area. After each group performed for 30 mintues the judges chose a winner. Smokin Crow took the top spot and $3000 prize, second went to Rock Hollow and $1500 prize, and third whent to Scarlet Angel and $500 prize.
