This is a place I visit often. This summer I've been here almost every night. Just a half hour or so; to listen to the silence and watch the sunset. I've got some good memories from here wich makes this place even more beautiful for me.

On Wednesday afternoon, we toured several local businesses in historic downtown Three Rivers. After eating lunch at Main Street Cafe, we visited Lowry's Books, the Riviera Theatre, UniQ, the Three Rivers Commercial-News, Love Your Mother, the Speaking Stone Cafe and World Fare.
In 1931 local community and government developed a plan to build a bridge across the Red River joining East and West Selkirk at an estimated cost of $300,000. No one realized at that time how difficult it would be to raise the funds. The depression hit and money was scarce for everyone including the government. It took another six years before the bridge became a reality. The bridge became fully serviceable by the fall of 1936, and still connects East and West Selkirk today.
Remembrance Sunday, 10 November 2024
In the United Kingdom, Remembrance Sunday is held on the second Sunday in November, which is the Sunday nearest to 11 November, Armistice Day, the anniversary of the end of hostilities in the First World War at 11 a.m. on 11 November 1918. Remembrance Sunday is held to commemorate the contribution of British and Commonwealth military and civilian servicemen and women in the two World Wars and later conflicts.
Remembrance Sunday is marked by ceremonies at local war memorials in most cities, towns and villages, attended by civic dignitaries, ex-servicemen and -women, members of local armed forces regular and reserve units, military cadet forces and uniformed youth organisations. Two minutes’ silence is observed at 11 a.m. and wreaths of remembrance poppies are then laid on the memorials.
The United Kingdom national ceremony is held in London at the Cenotaph in Whitehall. Wreaths are laid by King Charles III, principal members of the Royal Family, the Prince of Wales, the Duke of Edinburgh and the Princess Royal, the Prime Minister, leaders of the other major political parties, the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs, the Home Secretary, Commonwealth High Commissioners and representatives from the Royal Navy, Army and Royal Air Force, the Merchant Navy and Fishing Fleets and the civilian services, and veterans’ groups. In 2024 wreaths were laid by military officers on behalf of Queen Camilla, who did not attend due to illness but normally watches from a balcony, and the Duke of Kent, who viewed the ceremony from a balcony. Two minutes' silence is held at 11 a.m., before the laying of the wreaths. This silence is marked by the firing of a field gun on Horse Guards Parade to begin and end the silence, followed by Royal Marines buglers sounding Last Post.
Other members of the Royal Family watch from the balcony of the Foreign and Commonwealth Office. In 2024 the Princess of Wales, the Duchess of Edinburgh, the Duke of Gloucester, the Duchess of Gloucester, the Duke of Kent and Vice Admiral Timothy Laurence watched from the balconies.
After the ceremony, a parade of veterans and other related groups, organised by the Royal British Legion, marches past the Cenotaph, each section of which lays a wreath as it passes. Only ticketed participants can take part in the march past.
From 1919 until the Second World War remembrance observance was always marked on 11 November itself. It was then moved to Remembrance Sunday, but since the 50th anniversary of the end of the Second World War in 1995, it has become usual to hold ceremonies on both Armistice Day and Remembrance Sunday.

Other pieces of music are then played during the march past and wreath laying by veterans, starting with Trumpet Voluntary and followed by It's A Long Way To Tipperary, the marching song of the Connaught Rangers, a famous British Army Irish Regiment of long ago.
Following the end of the official service at the Cenotaph, a mammoth column more than 10,000-strong (some 9,000 of whom were veterans) began marching along Whitehall, saluting the Cenotaph as they passed, Parliament Street, Great George Street, Horse Guards Road and back to Horse Guard Parade. The Prince of Wales took the salute from the column on Horse Guards Parade.
In 2024 the column of veterans was led by the Royal Marines Association marking the 360th anniversary of their formation in 1664.

Así lo mencionó durante la firma del Pacto Nacional “Unidos por el Agua y el Saneamiento”, que contó con la participación de autoridades nacionales, regionales y locales; representantes de entidades.
La presidenta de la República, Dina Boluarte, anunció que el agua y el saneamiento son prioridad del Gobierno en el Presupuesto General de la República para el año 2024, que fue presentado hace unos días ante el Congreso de la República.
Así lo anunció durante la firma del "Pacto Nacional: Unidos por el Agua y el Saneamiento", un compromiso impulsado por el Ministerio de Vivienda, Construcción y Saneamiento (MVCS), para articular esfuerzos que contribuyan a que todos los peruanas y peruanos accedan a servicios de agua potable y saneamiento.
“La firma del pacto es un paso fundamental para alcanzar los objetivos que nos hemos trazado para cerrar las brechas de agua y saneamiento. Gracias a todos los que están aquí apostando por este objetivo”, destacó la presidenta.
De parte del ejecutivo, firmaron el documento los ministros de Vivienda, Construcción y Saneamiento, Hania Pérez de Cuéllar; del Ambiente, Albina Ruiz; de Educación, Miriam Ponce; de Energía y Minas, Oscar Vera; de Comercio Exterior y Turismo, Juan Carlos Mathews; del Interior, Vicente Romero, así como representantes de diversas entidades públicas y privadas, de la academia, de la cooperación internacional, de los pueblos originarios y dirigentes sociales.
La firma del pacto fue el acto más importante del foro "Unidos por el agua y el saneamiento", presidido por la jefa del Estado y que contó con la presencia del defensor del Pueblo, Josué Gutiérrez; los titulares de la Confiep, Alfonso Bustamante; de la Sociedad Nacional de Industrias, Jesús Salazar, entre otros invitados.
Para velar por su cumplimiento, el documento fue entregado simbólicamente a las niñas “Cuidadoras del Agua y el Medio Ambiente”, representantes de la comunidad nativa de Amazonas, en Nauta - Loreto, quienes a su vez entregaron una gota de agua tallada en piedra de Huamanga a la mandataria, y la nombraron “Cuidadora del Agua”.
Proyecto para Juliaca
La mandataria anunció que próximamente se iniciará la implementación del proyecto de ampliación y mejoramiento del sistema de agua potable en Juliaca, con el apoyo del Banco Interamericano de Desarrollo (BID), obra que demandará una inversión de más de S/ 1500 millones.
“Reitero a nuestras hermanas y hermanos de Puno que ejecutaremos la obra de agua potable y alcantarillado de la ciudad de Juliaca, obra emblemática que ha sido varias veces postergada y ahora será una realidad”, indicó.
La presidenta también destacó que en nueve meses de gestión el sector Vivienda destrabó 101 proyectos de agua y saneamiento que estaban paralizados.
Por su parte, la ministra Pérez de Cuéllar, señaló que el sector Vivienda tiene como meta cerrar las brechas de agua y saneamiento en los próximos años.
“Nos hemos puesto una meta, que el Perú, así como ha sido modelo agroexportador, sea un modelo en Latinoamérica y por qué no en el mundo, de haber cerrado su brecha de agua y saneamiento entre los próximos 10 y 15 años”, manifestó.
Compromisos
En el “pacto Nacional: Unidos por el Agua y el Saneamiento”, los firmantes se comprometen a luchar frontalmente contra la corrupción, por cuanto este flagelo le roba el derecho humano al agua y saneamiento a las poblaciones más vulnerables, así como a reducir la brecha a través de proyectos innovadores y sostenibles para que todas las peruanas y peruanos accedan de manera universal y equitativa a estos servicios.
También se comprometen a conservar y gestionar de manera sostenible las fuentes de agua a fin de asegurar la disponibilidad del recurso hídrico, sobre todo en un creciente entorno de eventos naturales extremos y cambio climático, y a concientizar a la población sobre el uso responsable y el cuidado del agua potable y saneamiento.
A su vez, la cooperación internacional brindará asistencia técnica y financiamiento para fortalecer capacidades locales y desarrollar proyectos de cierre de brechas. En tanto, el mundo académico aportará con ciencia y tecnología para la mejora de las políticas públicas en agua y saneamiento, a través de la investigación, desarrollo e innovación.
Por su parte, la sociedad civil, las organizaciones sociales de base, los pueblos originarios y todas aquellas formas de organización social y cultural, desarrollarán actividades, programas e iniciativas que contribuyan a la mejora del servicio y participarán activamente en la vigilancia de los compromisos asumidos.

This Local Places for Nature Food Development project was designed and built by ground staff from the East Team from Newport City Homes. It is located in Alway and was a site for fly tipping. Most of this was cleared off site beforehand and was a blank slate. 60% of the perimeter is housing and 40% is a hedge. Once the vegetation was strimmed, the soil was shown to be very poor quality with lots of historic litter including broken glass and cans etc. This meant growing in the soil would be very dangerous and we decided all growing would be done in raised beds. This project came with 3 raised beds, but we managed to get a hold of a load of spare sleepers from Newport City homes and eventually built one extra large bed and a very long bed with the 2 x trellis. The trellis would also hide the shed at the north end of the space. We also built from these sleepers, five 2.4 m long benches which could sit a whole class of children. We also covered almost 40m2 of the area in wildflower turf and hope to increase the coverage of the area with seeds from the turf collected in Autumn 2022. The day we installed the seating area, it pured of rain and we ended up putting muddy footprints on the paths outside the space. These paths are access for the adjacent bungalows which house disabled tenants. This was a risk, so we needed to clean the paths, and cover the growing space with stones. With enough stone, we'd be able to mix this into the ground and create a firm surface to walk on. As such, we moved 14 tonnes of chippings from the car park, uphill to the site in a day (8th November). Lovell's, one of NCH's contractors, donated time and materials to build a concrete base for the shed and green house and a week later, we built these structures on the base. Finally, we planted some of the plants. built strimming guards for the apple trees (coming later in December), tidied up the site and engraved our names into one of the benches. Officer candidates from Class 55 of the Virginia National Guard’s Officer Candidate School clear debris and work on landscape improvements May 4, 2013, as part of their class community project in Richmond, Va. Secretary Landgraf and Dr. Karyl Rattay demonstrated that cooking with local produce can be healthy and easy. As part of Delaware Local Produce Week, they celebrated with a cooking demonstration alongside students of The Hospitality School, housed on DHSS' Herman Holloway Campus near New Castle
All of the vegetables in the stir fry came from local gardens and farms, including the Planting Hope Urban Farm, also on the Holloway Campus. The recipe:
Easy Stir Fry Vegetables
Ingredients
1 green bell pepper, julienned
1 red bell pepper, julienned
2 carrots, sliced
2 cups broccoli florets
3 Tbsp. vegetable oil
3 Tbsp. low sodium soy sauce
1 tsp. ground ginger
1 bunch green onion, thinly sliced
2 Tbsp. cornstarch
1 cup chicken broth
1/4 cup cold water
Instructions
Saute the peppers, carrots, and broccoli in oil in a wok or large skillet until the veggies are crisp-tender, about 3-4 minutes.
Combine the soy sauce and ginger. Add to the pan with the green onions and stir-fry for 1 minute.
Combine cornstarch, broth, and water. Whisk until smooth and gradually stir into the vegetables.
Bring to a boil and cook and stir fro 2 minutes or until thickened. Serve over your favorite rice.
For added kick, add 1 tablespoon chili paste. For variety, add as many types of vegetables that you have on hand, like mushrooms and green beans.
