Loading area for powder and dust products at the Morris & Perry Ltd., Gurney Slade limestone quarry. This independent family owned company supplies asphalt, ready mix concrete and aggregates. I think that this section is operated by the Gurney Slade Lime & Stone Company Limited (a subsidiaty of LKAB Minerals) a group engaged in the manufacture of ground limestone and fertilizer products, the recycling of limestone powders and mineral processing.
Except for the tracked sidewalk snow plow which is 3 studs wide, all the other vehicles are 6 studs wide body, with 5 studs wide cabin. We received a lot of snow this winter, and this is what inspired me to build a fleet of snow removal equipment to clear the roads, apron, taxiways and the landing strip of the airbase. I also wish to pay tribute to our snow removal teams that work in harsh conditions, day and night to clear roads and parking lots so the rest of us can go about their daily business. The "yellow" fleet is made up of two tracked walk way snow plows, two dumper plow trucks, one salter-plow truck, two loaders, two dusters and one blower.
Pacific National 8139 and 8249 load grain at Cunningar in southern NSW, 17th February 2022. On display are at least 3 different eras of grain storage facilities plus the temporary at ground storage further back.
This truck was hauling a single-axle trailer carrying an oversized load through Stayner, ON today. I saw it coming and jumped out of the car to grab a shot but forgot to turn on Steady Shot (turned off for table-top shots earlier) so it is a bit soft, and didn't have time to dial in Continuous Shooting to get try to avoid overlapping traffic. Not the shot I was hoping for, but not a total bust.
Diesel-electric wheel loader
The prototype featured a 22-cubic-yard bucket and was suited to load 150 to 170 ton haul trucks like the Euclid R-170.
My model in scale 1:28.5 has all the functions of the original:
- All-wheel drive with planetary gear reduction in each wheel hub using two PF XL motors
- Articulated steering by means of two linear actuators powered by a PF M motor
- Pneumatic lift arm with four-cylinder pump, driven by a PF L motor and PF Servo actuated valve
- Pneumatic bucket with four-cylinder pump, driven by a PF L motor and PF Servo actuated valve
- Oscillating rear axle
- Work and rear lights using four pairs of PF LEDs in total
The wheel loader is remote controlled using PF speed remotes and three PF receivers, one of which is a V2.

Bolton allocated Ivatt class 2 46417 and a short parcels train at Ramsbottom Station. In reality 46441 on a photo charter in 2002 creates the illsion perfectly

Loading hoppers at the Hope Construction Materials operated Dowlow Quarry. I don't know if trains are still loaded under here as most trains appear to be filled by a front end loader on the line off to the right of this view.

This may not be an instantly recognisable classic in Concours condition, but it is old, dilapidated, off-the-road and overgrown by nature, so it has already taken my interest! This vehicle is of course, a 1965 Chaseside ‘SL 1000 Super Loadmaster’ bucket loader digger/excavator unit. Chaseside was a pioneering manufacturer of the modern bulldozer + digger as early as the 1930s, and as such, the company was later bought out by the big boys in this British industry - JCB itself in 1968. This example still wears its original, stamped seven-character “C” black plate (heavily faded) Yorkshire region May 1965 registration “GWW 809C”. The digger has remained on this farm in County Durham, Northeast England, U.K. since the late 1980s. According to a member of the family, the diesel engine of this vehicle still turns + runs and is started up every few years by the current owner, to prevent the motor from completely seizing up. Original Chaseside machines, either preserved, or still operational are very rare nowadays.

Arrival of the Black Marlin at Rotterdam. This semi-submersible vessel has 18 inland vessel hulls on board and a crane vessel for Damen. The 18 hulls were constructed in China for delivery to Concordia Damen in Werkendam.
The view of an old loading dock of an abandoned factory as seen from one of the offices in the building where I work.
For me, the appeal of this scene lays in the juxtaposition of the orderly patterning in the bricks against the abstractions of the distressed door. There is a ton of fine textures and detail in the subject so I designed the image to minimize complexity in lighting and composition keeping even lighting and nice orderly symmetry in the framing.
