Another interesting prompt today. While I thought about it all day I wasn't planning on using these photos or doing this layout but when I sat down this is what spoke to me.
This is the first big load of stuff I am moving to my new home in Beeville, which I unloaded on my birthday and the day before the crew built my new work shed.
Name of Program: Housing reconstruction program after Gorkha Earthquake
Location: Likhu Rural Municipality-02, Okhaldhunga Nepal
Building Typology: Load Bearing Stone Masonry in Mud Mortar
Houseowner Name: Mr. Hem Bahadur Khadka
The House owner Mr. Hem Bahadur Khadka has only received the first tranche because of having the noncompliance issues regarding the room size. This house has been constructed with room size of 15*16 sqft which is much more in size that has enlisted in the NBC.
Stone in mud buildings are constructed using dressed or undressed stones available at the site with mud mortar. The structural walls are the main load-bearing component of the building. The walls are usually 450-650 mm. thick. Such thick walls are generally constructed in multiple wythes with the filler material (small pieces of stones) between the walls. The floor system is the flexible type of mud flooring on bamboo or timber joists. The roof system is also flexible type with CGI sheets or tiles over timber rafters.
Nepal suffered a massive loss of lives and property on Saturday 25 April 2015, when the devastating magnitude 7.6 earthquake struck Nepal. Subsequent aftershocks, including one of magnitude 7.3 near the Chinese border on 12 May, produced additional losses of life and property.
The earthquake triggered avalanches on Mount Everest and in the Langtang valley. Villages were flattened and people were made homeless across 31 districts, with 14 districts suffering the highest impact. Infrastructure was damaged throughout the earthquake zone. Historic neighborhoods and heritage sites were destroyed in the Kathmandu Valley.
As a result of the earthquake, 8,790 people died and more than 22,300 people were injured. Assessments showed that at least 498,852 private houses and 2,656 government buildings were destroyed. Another 256,697 private houses and 3,622 government buildings were partially damaged. In addition, 19,000 classrooms were destroyed and 11,000 damaged.
The earthquake affected manufacturing, production, and trade in agriculture as well as tourism and other areas of the service sector, thereby weakening the national economy. Economic growth fell in 2015 and has picked up slowly 2016. Once fully underway, reconstruction should contribute to economic growth in the coming years.
According to initial estimates arrived at during the Post-Disaster Needs Assessment (PDNA), NPR 669 billion would be required to reconstruct damaged properties and infrastructure and to support recovery in affected sectors of the economy.
The government was providing 300 hundred thousand grant for Private housing reconstruction & 100 hundred thousand grant for retrofitting of the private house damaged by earthquake
Quote is by Mother Theresa. Journaling is under the photo and reads
I love this quote! Having so many children and seeing them as blessings from God is not a popular mind set these days. So many people ask me why? Why so many children? And I usually just smile because the only reason they are asking is they have not experienced the blessing that comes with a big family. I get more hugs and kisses, constant company and the joy of raising children to love God and serve Him! No, it’s not always easy and there are days that overwhelm me but it keeps me real close to my God and it is only through His strength that I can do these things! It is sad that our culture does not treasure children as the bible tells us too.........so many people are missing out! We all love our big family and can’t wait to welome baby number eight........who will arrive mid March!!!

Handling Specialty has experience with loading dock equipment. Here is a 20,000 lb. capacity custom hydraulic scissor lift table for transferring Rolls of Paper.
Handling Specialty's design of custom high-capacity lifts is suited ideally to the newspaper industry where tons of rolls of paper are handled daily. For the Houston Chronicle, a 20,000 lb. capacity lift was designed for the unloading of 5,000 lb. paper rolls. Delivered by transport to loading docks, the transport stops in front of the lift which raises to the height of the dock and back of the transport. Once emptied, the lift lowers and the present transport leaves, making way for the next shipment.

I actually had to climb up onto a small offload building for train cars to get this shot. I was probably twenty feet off the ground, leaning over a rusted railing. Good times...
This was shot for a project dealing with urban exploration/urban decay.
PLEASE COMMENT! Any and all thoughts and critiques are appreciated, they only hep to make me a better photographer.
My first time to top load on jeepney in Sabtang Island in Batanes. Bumpy ride, mountain cliffs and the beautiful scenery and people of Sabtang are worth the ride. One girl can't climb on top so she sob a little :) I'll probably put some pillow on my butt next time I'll top load again. Bumpy ride hurts :)

Late finish tonight, off prompt today, it's quite hard to match prompts to pre chosen photos as I'm visiting my parents. Anyway, today I felt like making a LO inspired by a quilt so I went on Pinterest and found this design.

The truck driver (my husband Dal), standing on corn that's already in the truck, directs Gene as to where to dump more so the weight is uniform. It takes about 4 corn picker loads to fill the truck. It takes about an hour for the picker to pick the corn and fill the truck up. This is a 4-row corn picker. Gene told me they make some up to 36 rows, mainly used in the midwest. Around here, the fields aren't big enough for something that huge. The corn is planted knowing what corn picker will be used on it. This field was planted in 4-row "marriages". Gene said this is a good size machine because you can drive it on the road. You can use bigger or smaller heads to pick different size marriages. He said he cut about 800 acres last year and around 200 thiis year. He leases the machine.

Under the flap you see the photo I snapped of Alice finishing her postcards for our swap. Sorry Alice, I know it's not the greatest photo but the story was pretty funny and I want it as part of my Reunion Album. 😊
