The train was likely headed for Montreal or Toronto. This image is one of 36 colour slides showing commercial fishing on Lake Nipigon from 1951-1953.

This is my "no words" layout. This is my daughters first "school" photo, taken at daycare last October. The cogs and timepieces are supposed to represent the passing of time - as I was scrapping this I was thinking of all the many school photos I have to look forward to in the future.
I recently speculated as to whether the small rusty ship in the foreground was used to periodically remove scrap. That turned out to be a dredger and is absolutely dwarfed by the ship which does.
Talis was built in 1992 in Germany. She is operated by WE-Ships who are based in Istanbul. She is 81.8m in length and draws around 4.6m empty, so would be sitting on the mud here. She can carry up to 106,000 tons.

Following the robbery of rail joints and the derailment of 06 029 with an empty gas train near the village of Musachevo. This is the story of how the loco was successfully put back on track.

Yesterday (17/7/12) Greater Manchester Police and Cheshire Constabulary escorted one of the largest abnormal loads to be moved on the region’s roads for many years.
The load, an electricity transformer, was being moved from Ellesmere Port to Rochdale on a specialist vehicle. The total weight of the vehicle and load was almost 450 tonnes.
Cheshire Constabulary escorted the vehicle to the Force border where Greater Manchester Police took over the duty.
The two forces, local authorities, Network Rail, and the Highways Agency were involved in detailed planning of the operation to ensure that the vehicle reached its destination safely and caused as little disruption to normal traffic as possible.
The Greater Manchester leg of the journey began at 8pm and concluded in the early hours of the morning.

KiwiRail's DSG 3277 propels a train of wagons from the port onto the linkspan and into the belly of what, at the time, was KiwiRail only rail-enabled ship Aratere working the 'Interislander' service between Wellington on the North Island and Picton on the South Island.
On 18th August Aratere has been retired, allowing upgrades and rebuilding of the linkspans ready to take a new fleet of ships from 2029. In the meantime, there will be no rail connection between New Zealand's two island. The impact of this on rail freight traffic, particularly on the South Island is not yet known.
Aratere was launched in 1998 following construction in Vigo, Spain and has spent it's career crossing the Cook Straight in New Zealand.
The DSG class of shunting locomotive dates from 1981 and is a product of Toshiba Heavy Industries in Japan. This example is remote control fitted.
A few moments after seeing the large trucks loading material by the dockside, I was walking further along and saw this crane doing the same, but this time with a cargo vessel. So again I used the zoom to get a closer pic, then let the video run to capture the crane's claw hand droppping material into the hold.
I had this idea in my head, and the grid wouldn't work with 31 layouts, so I decided to go with it and use the BW theme for the title/journaling/embellishments. This has been such a great experience! I'll scrap more efficiently in a style I like and I won't buy a bunch of stuff I don't use. It will also be a long time until I cut out 30 tiny photos again...maybe October?

Whenever I start a build, I have a little wish list (if I were selling these instead of being my own 'customer', I'd call it a design brief). I wanted a (mostly) studless minifgure scale JCB backhoe loader, suitable for a diorama or as the load for one of my trucks, with a cabin large enough to house an operator, a functional front bucket and some freedom of movement for the rear excavator arm.
Frosty Hollow is now open! Come visit and bring a friend. There are loads of activities, from ice skating to snow tubing Go on a horse back tour, or view the landscape from a sky tram. Keep warm and cuddle around a campfire, or sit and relax in one of the many shops and cafes. We hope to see you there!
In the entrance to the museum building, painted in acrylic, is Guan Wei's large-scale mural work. A crowded rowboat of refugees heads towards a new land. These naked figures are undertaking perilous journeys across vast oceans, experiencing hardship
and pain in an attempt to achieve their ideal of an earthly paradise - Australia.
Guan Wei first left China for Australia in 1989 to take up a 3-month residency at the Tasmanian School of Art and returned to live here in 1990. He has recently moved back to Beijing with his family but maintains his studio in Sydney.
Guan's work provokes its audience to think about the refugee debate in this country, and ask themselves: how will we act, we who live under the sun and with great abundance, when faced with a boat load of refugees arriving on our doorstep?.......Unearth The Rocks
