Montana Rail Link SD35 No. 705 is in the running repair building at Livingston Shop, MRL’s system locomotive shop at Livingston, Montana, on May 7, 2012. MRL 705 was built by EMD in November 1965 as a high-nose Norfolk & Western SD35 No. 1553.

De InterCity met 120 op kop was door en dus was het moment aangebroken om te checken wat we nu zouden doen: terug naar de andere zijde van de Rijn? Toen we zowat de opties overliepen, gaf Daniel Sauer aan dat er nog een speciale Intercity zou langskomen ter vervanging van een ICE 1 treinstel en deze zou richting zuiden door een nieuwe 'Werbelok' getrokken worden. De keuze was dus snel gemaakt: we zouden dus links blijven!
Alleen waren we een beetje aan het twijfelen waar we die speciale IC op foto zouden zetten. Steven opperde Namedy maar ik vond dat wat ver rijden voor één trein. Daniel gaf aan dat het misschien ook wel in Oberwinter mogelijk zou zijn, ongeveer recht tegenover de plaats waar iedereen in de voormiddag gaat staan. Alleen was het jaren geleden dat hij daar nog geweest was.
We besloten toch maar eens te gaan kijken en ja hoor, het beviel ons wel, zeker omdat we hier óók in de schaduw konden zitten ;-)
Terwijl wij ons onze boterhammetjes verorberden, draaide de zon meer en meer door en mooi op tijd verscheen om 14u30 dan IC 2901 Hamburg-Altona - Frankfurt (Main) Hbf, een 'Ersatz-IC' voor ICE 925. Als trekkracht voor deze 'Ersatz-IC' kregen we wel een heel fraaie reclameloc te zien: de 101 064-4 verliet de werkplaats van Dortmund voor de eerste keer in zijn reclamejasje op 1 juli 2019.
De locomotief die ter gelegenheid van 160 jaar Märklin op het spoor kwam, heeft op beide flanken een andere tekening: langs de ene kant staat een afbeelding van een V200 en een 103, op de andere zijde afbeeldingen van kinderen die met Märklinproducten spelen. Gemeenschappelijk is de tekst "160 Jahre - Märklin verbindet Generationen".
En zo hadden we na de IC met 120 op kop dus op 1,5 uur tijd nu al een tweede speciale IC op foto. Echt waar: het blijft toch altijd een belevenis aan de Rijn!

As foreseen DBAG-locomotive 101 064-4, commemorating 160 years of Märklin, showed up on top of IC 2901 from Hamburg Altona to Frankfurt am Main (as a replacement InterCity for ICE 925).
The locomotive has as motto "Märklin verbindet Generationen" which means that Märklin joins generations.

Montana Rail Link’s 844 local has just made a run up to Harrison to fetch a pair of empty fertilizer cars at the Harrison Elevator and is now arriving at Sappington, Montana, on June 27, 2023. The conductor (assistant engineer on the ground, on MRL) is about to detrain and sign out of the block register before the train heads east back to Logan.

Montana Rail Link's Day Gas departs Thompson Falls on 12/30/2023 bound for Missoula. To the east they will branch off of the 4th Sub and onto the 10th Sub for the remainder of the trip.
Since my trip, the MRL power and spacer cars have disappeared from this location and soon the tricolor lights which replaced the semaphores, will also disappear.

Montana Rail Link’s 840 local has made a trip up to the Harrison Elevator to retrieve a pair of empty fertilizer cars on June 27, 2023. MRL GP35 No. 404 and its diminutive train heads downgrade and northward about a mile and a half from town, toward the junction switch for the Harrison branch at Sappington, Montana.
Neu trifft Alt - Pesa Link trifft Formsignal. Dieser Kontrast lässt sich in Vöhringen (noch) beobachten. Am vermutlich ersten Einsatztag im Fahrgastbetrieb auf der Illertalbahn, dem 6. Juli 2020, entstand dieses Bild, das 633 039 und 633 031 als RB 57651 bei der Einfahrt in Vöhringen zeigt. Wie heute fast schon üblich, verzögerte sich der Einsatzbeginn der neuen Fahrzeuge um viele Monate. Ursprünglich sollten die polnischen Triebzüge bereits im Dezember 2017 an den Start gegen. Das macht eine Verspätung von nur 2,5 Jahren.

With the Gas local and Paradise local now a combined train into just the Gas Local it is usually filled out with misc work to be done on the way to and from Paradise but on this day the Meatball pair of 4406, 4408 and a Meatball buffer lead a long string of Gas cars for Pipeline seen just west of Ravalli MT on a rather gloomy day.
