"Linger:" Last night's sunset was a bit unusual in that it started out as if it may not produce much color, and then gradually a soft pink started to spread across the sky. This photo was taken even later, when it seemed to have a round 2 of really deep reds and pinks scattered above Granite Mountain. Here a bit of both remnant snow and sunset color lingered in the scene.
A woman stands in clear water, her figure surrounded by falling drops of water. Introspective, the drops reflect her inner thoughts. A poetic image of reflection and renewal as she lingers in the still water.

A light rain, cold morning, street under construction ... not much temptation to linger but ... amid all the mess, there were a couple of bushes bearing lovely fragrant old-fashioned roses and I just HAD to stop for a photo (and a sniff!)

More than its beauty, what amazes me about these flowers the most is that they always grow back, even after they are stepped on. Because of that unwavering faith, it manifested all the resources of soil, rain, sun to make it happen.

Taken with Nikon D300 & Nikon Micro 105mm f/2.8 AF-S
Two flash fired off camera with diffuser at 1/64. Mix up poster colors with transparent paper glue and put them on the surface of a sub woofer which is covered by polythene. Put the camera on a tripod, manually focus the colors, set a black cloth as backdrop and turn off the room light. When start to play music, with the beat of drums, those colors start to jump. Use remote shutter to take photos.

Monsoon lingered in Nepal in September 1985. It was wet and hot walking the famous Annapurna Circuit trail. Until we reached the backside of the Annapurna massif - no more rains and a cooler, drier climate. It was harvest time in the fabled Manang Valley - sheltered by huge mountains, it was a pocket of a peculiar Tibetan tribe and their culture. Here just after the village of Tal we were walking in the deep Marsyandi river gorge. Just before a heavy rainfall started a Tibetan horse was peacefully grazing on our path.
At that time there were no roads to Manang valley and it took a week of walking to reach the rain shadow. That has changed and it has changed the lives in the valley forever.
The picture was originally photographed on Fujichrome slide film with my Nikon FE2 camera and 50mm lens. I photographed the slide by bracketing it with a Nikon D600 camera and enhanced the picture in Lightroom, Photoshop, and Topaz.
