I can't even describe how wonderful these fabrics are. Their weight and hand is just beautiful...I'm on a linen kick and these just make me happy.
I started this on election day when I was working as a judge, and my grandma claimed it as her own. So, this is her Christmas gift.

I just made a new batch. Linen cuffs made from linen scraps and lots of detailed freeform sewing. No two are the same, and each one closes with a vintage button from my secret stash.
I wanted to make a special bag for a friend who has really excellent taste and is a graphic designer. i had not used linen before and I think it could become an addiction.

I set my naturally minimalist inclinations aside, and this is what happened.
Rustbelt Revival is a vest I made from linen, gray fuzzy monster fur, hand-dyed silk gauze, and cotton - I think that's everything! It's rust, gray, and acid green. It has all kinds of nutty stitching, including on the POCKET (take that, pocket lovers, there's a POCKET!) plus lots of tesxtured bubbles and shreds and layers and what might be a black hole (?) on the back.
It closes with a metal clasp that attaches to a large laundry pin and it comes with a matching lapel pin that you could, say, take off and pin to a bag, if you wanted to. Or just wear it as is.
I had to make a light weight shirt for my husband who is heading to New Orleans in a couple of days. I rely liked this linen cotton blend material that I bought at JoAnne Fabric. I also had to make a plain shirt as my husband wears bright pants that I make out of fun novelty fabrics. This will not clash with his pants.
