The textile linen is made from Flax (Linum usitatissimum), also known as common flax or linseed. I find the flower to be exquisite.
Much of my inspiration to embroider has come from Amanda Blake Soule's blog and her book, The Creative Family.

Love doesn't only come in red, it comes in all colors. The calmness of blue, showing care through the serenity of the ocean and sky. The vivid green tones of the earth, showing us life that is not possible to flourish without love. Purple and pink hues of playfulness, youth and gentleness that is so precious and dangerous at the same time. The spirit of yellow, strong bonds, warmth of the sun and hope...because without love, there is no hope.

A lot of the old linens, bedspreads, curtains, etc. which have been replaced are now used to cover the furniture for the months when the house is not in use. They lay neatly folded in corners of lesser-used rooms, and closets until it is time to gather them up again.
today i completed one of the linen tops. earlier in the week i finished the second linen dress. the dress was started at the beginning of the year but i hadn't fitted the skirt to the top or set the pockets. the first dress had no pockets, i forgot. more dresses and tops are cut out ready to be assembled. i'm following the you tube videos below
i'm a size 14. these are loose fitting clothes. ideal for this hot, hot weather. i wore the dress on wednesday :)
there are many imperfections to these clothes but i've got to start somewhere. success for me is would i feel happy wearing the dress or blouse to the shops? if the answer is yes then that'll do
i've now come to a halt as i've run out of thread. i'll go out later and buy some. no more dressmaking today but i'll pick it up again tomorrow

I love freshly washed towels and linens. Since our older home lacks built-in storage space, we have to use baskets for storing various items. I like how pretty the baskets can be, and at the same time, they serve a purpose.

I think we all know how that one ends.
Finally got my act together and bought Shana Rae's lovely florabella texture collection. I see fun times ahead playing with these! Used white linen and allure in here. Yum.
