Stretching from Shibuya to Yokohama through heavily suburban Southwestern Tokyo is the short 24km long Tokyu Toyoko Line. Operated by private line Tokyu Railway, this mainline is major player for moving commuters from Yokohama into Tokyo and vice versa, serving as a solid #2 to JR East.

Despite being operated by Tokyu, a plethora of private operators use the Toyoko Line for through services in Tokyo and the suburbs of Kanagawa Prefecture. They are:

Tokyu Railway

Tobu Railway

Seibu Railway

Sotetsu Railway

Saitama Railway

Tokyo Metro Subway

Toei Subway

Yokohama Minatomirai Railway

With heavy train traffic and a unique mix of multi company rolling stock, it is an underrated mainline to photograph. An actual Joint Line!

According to another site #6670 was purchased by Youngstown Steel Heritage in September 2018. It now waits to be moved back to Ohio where it will be restored as Erie Lackawanna #3639.

Branches tend to grow from trees up in the air; this is almost in the air. This spot has already been re-ballasted as was the main line. The water is down, leaving an enormous amount of work. The water sure did a good job of cleaning the ballast out. We don't know how much help will be forthcoming, what with a drunken, alcoholic speaker of the house and his tea bagging buddies. This project belongs to Burlington. Gummint doesn't even want to pay for their and Boy George's senseless wars. Apparently all this is because of an anemic health care law, the poorest coverage of all industrialized countries with single payer. Egad we only have a gutless, middle of the road centrist opposition party. I expect we can't expect any climate correction legislation as long as the fossil fuel industries own our legislative processes, as poor as they are.

The ballast work is done on the downtown mainline and we are blessed with whistles through the night once again. Repairs were done on the branch line west of Hygiene just before the rains came. There is a great deal of work to do on the line to Lyons as soon as the cement plant decides if it will reopen. The future of the rail line is "up in the air." Appologies to George Clooney.

This was taken west from Hover Street up the Burlington RR branch to Lyons and the cement plant and toward Golden Ponds which is currently closed. The status of the cement plant is questionable now. It has quarry and gravel pits itself that are probably still wet even today. Two rivers converge in front of Broley. Some folks are convinced the river ought to be moved back to some of the original empty course. Darwin should chime in on that idea.

Trail Ridge and Rocky Mountain National Park were closed as the second access route to Estes Park with the righties shut down of the country as the second access route to Estes Park. Estes is closing down now but they might not vote for psychopaths any more. Lyons is three islands now. Broley is a small island. [http://www.flickr.com/photos/rockypix/sets/72157630174540860/]

I don't know if the park's creators imagined that the idea would be so successful. Today the High Line is already a mainstream tourist attraction. And it is, without a doubt, the best introduction to the charm of Downtown for those who only imagined that Times Square and Central Park New York existed.

The We're Here! gang is celebrating Georges Pierre Seurat today, with lines, curves, and dots.
