Patricia Piccinini opened her Newcastle Art Gallery exhibition 'Like Us', with a massive turnout in the civic precinct tonight. Be sure to get along and check out her work. Very interesting and thought provoking.
The House on the Rock, Wisconsin - strange place, a bit of a tourist trap. Should have gone to Taliesin!
I have no idea what car this it but it made a pleasing panned image as it was driven around the roads of the Black Country living museum
Like A Feather In The Wind
As I drift through this life of mine
I often wonder silently
Is my life not the wind, and I a feather so fine?
Though I am free I walk no path
I simply float and glide
I am placid and flowing
Through death I cause no aftermath
And on the gentle lake
lies my reflection
I am but a feather
Wind is the journey I take

on a bull! One of three more screen shots of misheard subtitles from the Netflix movie, "How About You." I enjoyed the movie, but the subtitling was crazy! Because I have some hearing loss, I like to use subtitles, when available, but I was surprised at the discrepancies between what I heard & what I saw on this movie. Many of the subtitled words not only didn't make sense; they weren't even real words!
Dante: Kat, I'm not wearing this wig. It makes me look like that werewolf kid in Twilight.
Kat: Wow, you kinda do! And while I'm not a Twilight fan, I think maybe October is...
Dante: Would you really do that to me? Hmph...and here I thought you cared about me. Well, if you make me look like I'm all Team Jacob, then I am going to tell October that you ordered her the biggest, most expensive surprise ever that she is going to absolutely love, and she'll torment you about what it is until you die of...being tormented in that way that only she can torment people.
Kat: *tremble*
Dante: I'm so glad you see my point! I'll have my old wig back now, thanks.
---------
I ordered a new wig for Dante, but, as you can see, it didn't quite work out as I had hoped it would. Oh well! I'll try again in the future some time.
And for those who aren't familiar with my doll family, October is my spoiled diva MNF Juri '08 who is crazy about Dante...but Dante has a serious girlfriend, and finds October's aggressive affection both awkward and annoying.
There was my younger sister's birthday party last weekend.
And like last year, I made a cake for her.
This year I made a cake called "Mole's cake". You can usually buy a cake mix by Dr. Oetker here but I made a homemade cake. It's harder but it's better. (And healthier, don't you think?)
It was a first time, when I found what mole means. I didn't know how to name that cute animal in English. So now I know that my favourite Adrian Mole is named after a mole. Haha.
And if you want you can see this and a few my other photos from last weekend here. This how's your weekend blog is very lovely.
I'm living in cloud cuckoo land.
Going through some old stuff from Tokyo I never uploaded. Can't be bothered to edit anything new these days.
Haven't been up here for about 20 years. It's a five shot HDR made up from one shot then processed in ReDynaMix a PSP plugin.

The Anholt island between Danmark and Sweden seen from above. I was enroute from Säve to Hahn and had one of my best-ever flights concerning aerial spotting. Two persons, two cameras, two window seats on the right side. Great spotting.
This shows the island in its full size. Mind the surface: looks really volcanic but, for sure, it's not. In the foreground, you can see the little harbour and on the right, the small airfield is visible. As far as I know, no permanet inhabitors on this island. But sometimes launches of small rockets of a Danish semi-professional space-group. Hope not to fly then around here...
Anyhow, I don't know for how many time I have seen this island, but it's always a nice landmark. Especially when coming back to Sweden, this island is already visbile during the approach. I should maybe go there one day..
sorry about that. This is a Maiko (geisha in training) actually You can tell by the red ribbon in her hair.
If you would like to look at this Eavestrough in person this McDonalds location is in Leduc.
Located off Hwy 2 on the north end of the city.
The Maine Ave Fish Market (The Wharf) is the oldest continuously running fish market in the United States...and it is "quintessential DC."
The Wharf is REAL DC. It is not what folks who come to visit the moments think of DC. It sure isn't Georgetown - Georgetown isn't "DC." The Wharf isn't even the newly gentrified areas of the city like Chinatown, the U Street Corridor or H St.
The Wharf, to me, still feels like it did when I was a child. It smells the same. It looks the same. But, like Sam Cooke said (about a much different subject), "change gonna come."
I had not been to The Wharf in many, many years. As I pulled up on this day, I was shocked, disappointed and saddened by the change that is coming.
Don't get me wrong, I am supportive of smart development that helps raise the beauty and safety of the city but...there are some things that literally hurt my heart to see change.
While there, I met a wonderful woman and man with whom I talked about the history of The Wharf and DC for at least ten or fifteen minutes. They even believe they had met my grandfather, the Rev. John D. McArthur, when he was alive and was the Pastor of the church that I grew up in on North Capitol Street.
I can't express the feeling of coming back to this place and meeting these people made me literally feel my grandfather's presence again.
It felt comfortable. I felt like a child. It was beautiful...just like this fish market.
I like to ride my bicycle. I love to ride my bike. Fixed gear brakeless pursuit-commuter bike.
nothin' fancy bout the way I ride.
look closely [view large image] and you can see my rear wheel is iridescent [rainbow] hahaha. it only shows when the sun hits it though. sneaky ;]
Go figure, they're like number one of my top ten. They're new album is going to be sick.
Can't. Wait.
I'll figure out something else to take pictures of soon.
Here are two shots of what I'm pretty sure is a Pacific Woodrush (Luzula comosa) in the Juncaceae plant family. Rushes usually grow in wet places, but this one prefers to be dry. The plants have broad grass-like leaves and interesting flower heads that are different from grasses. This is one of those plants that might be common, but I rarely notice it.
