I got invited to an early preview of Phillip K Smith III's exhibit at the Laguna Art Museum. Smith was there himself to give an in-depth explanation about his works.

Tronesque virtual dimension exploration tonight from the comfort of my kitchen.
Whilst queuing up for our Chippy tea Riley took his coat off and I noticed the proper funky lining within.
Chippy eaten, tea drank and set too.
Framed and focused for the inside of his coat. Lit from one side green and a hint of blue from the . Lens cap on, swapped tripods for some camera and blade rotation. 8 way rotation of the cam for each blade rotation. www.lightpaintingbrushes.com diamond blade modded and illuminated by the Ryus Lightworks strobing badboy.
Straight out of the camera.....and into Lightroom for some minor tweakage.
Suffice to say that Riley's coat will be coming out with me tomorrow night.
Happy days.

Vesak is considered as both a religious and cultural festival in Sri Lanka. It is celebrated on the day of the full moon in May. Vesak Day is one of the biggest days of the year in the Buddhist calendar and is celebrated by Buddhists all over the world. Buddhists commemorate the important events that took place in the life of Lord Buddha on this Vesak Full Moon Poya Day. First comes the birth of Siddhartha Gautama in Lumbini in Nepal which took place under the arbor of Sat trees where queen Mahamaya gave birth to him. The second event was Siddharta Gautam's supreme attainment as the Buddha, the Enlightened One. The third event was Lord Buddha's Parinibbana over 2500 years ago at Kusinagar.
Apart from Sri Lanka, many Asian countries including India, Japan, Singapore, Taiwan, Indonesia and Nepal celebrate Vesak. Many religious activities are organized during this period in Sri Lanka such as Sil campaigns, Bodhi Poojas, Dansalas (Freely giving foods, coffee, tea from people), Vesak devotional songs (Bakthi Gee), pandols (thoran) and lanterns.
The lightwork "Tensegrity" at the Wellington Lux Light Festival. Tensegrity is a frame covered in thousands of led lights that rotate when someone pedals on a bike connected to it. The rotation speed depends on the speed of the person pedalling.

This technical illustration was commissioned by Brigham Young University in Utah to show the layout of their Marriott School. The building was first modelled in Archicad and then a view was rendered in Lightworks with cutaways to reveal the interior layout. This finished artwork used a composite of renders, worked in photoshop. The colour render had watercolour filters applied to give a more illustrated feel, and a sketch render was added for the linework.
The illustration was used in the university's literature, website and on signage to help students and visitors navigate the facilities.

I want to take you far from the cynics int his town
And kiss you on the mouth
We'll cut out bodies free from the tethers of this scene,
Start a brand new colony
Where everything will change,
We'll give ourselves new names (identities erased)
The sun will hear the grounds
Under our bare feet in this brand new colony
Everything will change, oOo oOo...
An extract from the lyrics of "Brand New Colony" by The Postal Service.

Vancouver-based artist Bill Pechet of Pechet Studio has teamed up with lighting co-designer Chris Pekar of Lightworks and Montreal-based LED lighting manufacturer Lumenpulse to create one remarkable public art installation called Emptyful. The towering structure, which mimics a mammoth sized laboratory flask, stands 35-feet tall and 31-feet wide, weighing in at approximately 48,500 lbs. Located at Winnipeg’s Millennium Library Plaza, Pechet’s sculpture serves as a real crowd pleaser, grabbing the attention of visitors and casual pedestrians alike.
