"Following the Battle of Hoth, Imperial soldiers spend day and night searching for surviving rebels among the downed aircraft."
Battle of Hoth
"My lord, the fleet has moved out of lightspeed. Com-scan has detected an energy field protecting an area of the sixth planet of the Hoth system. The field is strong enough to deflect any bombardment."
"The Rebels are alerted to our presence. Admiral Ozzel came out of lightspeed too close to the system."
"He...He felt surprise was wiser—"
"He is as clumsy as he is stupid. General, prepare your troops for a surface attack."
"Yes, my Lord."
―General Maximillian Veers and Darth Vader
The Battle of Hoth, also known as the attack on Hoth, the assault on Echo Base, attack on Echo Base, or the defense of Echo Base, was a major battle fought in 3 ABY and was considered a major victory for the Galactic Empire and the single worst battlefield defeat suffered by the Rebel Alliance during the Galactic Civil War. The battle was an Imperial invasion led by Darth Vader, aimed at destroying the Rebel Alliance's Echo Base hidden on the remote ice world Hoth and capturing Luke Skywalker. The base's location was discovered when a Viper probe droid, deployed by Darth Vader's Death Squadron randomly landed on Hoth, convincing the Rebels to begin an evacuation of Hoth.
The Imperial attack force consisted of primarily AT-AT walkers, commanded by General Maximilian Veers. His army was tasked with destroying Echo Base's main power generator to allow orbital bombardment of the planet and for Darth Vader to land on the planet. Spearheading the defense of the generator was Rogue Squadron, manning snowspeeders, commanded by Luke Skywalker, renowned for being the pilot who destroyed the first Death Star. The snowspeeders however did not have the necessary firepower to bring down the walkers, so Skywalker suggested an alternative tactic to trip up the walkers with the tow cables issued to every snowspeeder.
Despite the efforts by Rogue Squadron, the power generator was eventually destroyed by Veers' main AT-AT. The remaining base personnel proceeded to evacuate, as the 501st Legion, led by Darth Vader, entered the base. The overwhelming Imperial invasion forced the Rebellion to scatter the Alliance Fleet across the galaxy, leading to a multitude of scattered skirmishes across the galaxy for over six months before the Empire's sudden and crushing defeat at the Battle of Endor.

I don't know if my shot of this brings anything new to the table as I know I've seen at least a few similar shots but who can resist a fun long exposure of the new Dumbos? I did my shot at a tilt as I felt like it added a bit more excitement to the shot.
Technical: 4 shots blended in Photomatix. 3 adjustment layers.

A little hidey hole in a special location somewhere in the Sydney surrounds. What an awesome morning to get soaked!!!
When driving to my parents I always pass this road between De Steeg and Ellecom (Netherlands). Always when the sun shines I see the many shadows of the trees (only in winter) and I already wanted to make a photo of it for over a year. Finally the conditions were good and I had a day off to make it. First I struggled with the set-up as it was already 30 min after sunset. Luckily the gradual grad filters are big enough to use it as a normal 3-stops and 2-stops filter giving me an exposure of 8 seconds. When the bus came I already had time to practise my timing with other cars.. but then.... YES... finally my first time that a photo matches with the picture that I had in my mind. Perfect way to start the weekend!!
Finally back on Flickr after a 3 months break, finished my first semester in University, currently travelling the North East of the USA. How time flies.
I was shooting this ferry while it was docked when it decided to leave mid shot. I thought "Hmmm, this should be interesting".
Don't try this at home kids, standing in the middle of speeding trying to take a snap

Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to all. This is a composite of 3 different images; one for the upper part of the sky, one for the lower part of the sky, lighthouse and breakwater, and another for the water. I used inverted layer masks and the smart brush to blend them together. Again, the reason I made a composite was a timing issue rather than an exposure issue. I wasn't planning to do it like this until a guy and his chick came paddling by in a 5 foot dingy completely lit up by christmas lights... LOL, not sure where he was headed considering the Pacific Ocean is directly outside frame left but It really adds to the picture.....Thanks!!
