We headed to the Napa Valley in northern California. It's famous around the world for the wineries and wine. This time we did not go for wine tasting, but to enjoy the fall colors. We stopped at ZD Wines for sunset. This winery is on the east side of the Napa Valley, hence the longer shadows at sunset.

I processed a realistic and a paintery HDR photo from three RAW exposures, blended them selectively, and carefully adjusted the color balance and curves. I welcome and appreciate constructive comments.

I took a rental car to drive from Milano Malpensa Airport to my hometown in the Swiss Alps. I decided to take the longer scenic route over the Bernina Pass and Flüelapass. Near Davos is a small chapel. There is no light pollution, so the lights of the chapel illuminates the surroundings.

I processed a balanced and a paintery HDR photo from three RAW exposures, merged them selectively, and carefully adjusted the color balance and curves. I welcome and appreciate constructive comments.

On the night of the first of April we went to see Hanami, the cherry blossoms at Hakone Gardens, a Japanese garden in Saratoga, California. It was an enchanting experience to walk below cherry trees in full blossom. In the foreground is a Double Weeping Cherry tree that has long hanging twigs full of cherry blossoms.

While the girls went shopping in Varese, Italy, my Transylvanian friend showed me the Palazzo Estense and its magnificent gardens. The palace was originally the residence of Francesco III of Este, and now serves as the town hall. A father and son walked through the hallways of the Sant'Antonino monestary when the sun was low.

I processed a balanced HDR photo from a RAW exposure, carefully adjusted the curves, and desaturated the image.

The mosque of Emam, Esfahan, Iran.

Le petit village de Broto, situé dans la province de Huesca, au Sud de Torla-Ordesa, compte 500 habitants. Il regorge de magnifiques vestiges de l'Antiquité avec notamment le seul pont roman qui enjambe la rivière Sorrosal, non loin d'une impressionnante cascade.

Yesterday I joined a fun a photowalk on beautiful Mt. Tamalpais near Mill Valley, north of San Francisco. We were a big group, disbursed on several hills around the mountain. I snapped Thomas Hawk walking on a path with a camera in his hand.

Does anybody recognize the title?

I processed a balanced HDR photo from three RAW exposures. I had to de-ghost Thomas in motion because he moved between the bracketed exposures.

I got invited to take photos at the movie premiere of Aimuldir – The Soul of a Burkitshi, a heart warming story of a small girl who became an eagle huntress in Mongolia. The short film by director Oliver Klink and producer Jackson Nichols was screened at an art gallery in Palo Alto, California. Returning to the car after the event, Oliver and Jackson discussed the feedback they got on the film.

Below the Upper House is a Double Weeping Cherry that has long hanging twigs full of cherry blossoms.

We went hiking in up on the Angels Landing trail in the Zion National Park in Utah, USA. The trail is at times very steep. This is a straight portion with a nice view over the valley. Higher up are the so called Walter’s Wiggles, a trail with a series of 21 steep switchbacks.

We had a rainy sunset in my hometown Schuders, located in the Swiss Alps near the Austrian border. Parts of the mountains were illuminated by the sun, parts in the shade of clouds.

Today First of August is the Swiss National Day, the day when the Swiss Confederation was founded in 1291. #IneedSwitzerland

In the night light this office building looked quite surreal... and transforming it into a B/W image underlines the effect.
