"My dear friend, what do you intend to do? What, if not to believe God's counsels, to believe Truth who cannot deceive? This is his counsel to you: "Come to me, you who are heavily burdened, and I will refresh you.""
- from St Bruno's Letter to Raoul le Verd.
Today, 6 October, is the feast of St Bruno, founder of the Carthusians, and this photo was taken in the church of Sta Maria degli Angeli which was once a Carthusian church in the centre of Rome, built into the former Baths of Diocletian.
I started by taking pictures of different shapes with light, then paste/copy to make the flower and added the hand...
My first attempt at light painting after making the wand. This was mostly just to get an idea of how to use it.
“God didn't promise days without pain, laughter without sorrow, sun without rain, but He did promise strength for the day, comfort for the tears, and light for the way.”
thank you Father for being the Light in my life:)

I tried a new light painting technique for this. I suspended a torch from the ceiling with string and span it around with the camera underneath on bulb mode.

Oslo sunset today 15:11. A solar pillar occurs when ice crystals in the atmosphere reflect the light of the setting sun.
Light painting with a torch in my hallway.
Image made up of 3 exposures. Post processing included changing the colour balance and using a layer mask.
Also used liquify to make some shapes.
Replaced.. slight crop. There was too much black space at the bottom, was bugging me :)
Couldn't decide what to go for with the "Redux 2014” theme. Thought about the November 10: Film Noir theme which I did late last time but really enjoyed setting up. In the end, decided to go for July 28: Energy theme since I took the picture while on holiday with my iPhone and was not entirely happy with it.
An interesting light bulb that I came across. I liked the shape of the filament.
I'd be grateful for any comments.

My participation to the 55th weekend contest by lense[.]fr : "Sound Factory".
The aim was to illustrate a song with a picture, the title of the photograph was to be the title of the song.
I must admit I rather tried to illustrate the title through the composition, rather than the song's lyrics ;)

This is the Deutsches Meeresmuseum (The German Sea-Museum), which is housed in the former Katharinenkirche (the church of St Catherine), a part of the Katharinenkloster (the convent of St Catherine), founded by the Dominicans 1251 and built in Gothic style (or more precisely Backsteinsgotik). From the 17th century the church was used as a storage, and in 1973 turned into a museum.

Part of an ongoing experiment with image manipulation: The images are the result of a 2 stage process. First, a photo is taken of a moving subject. What results is a blurred image, the distortion magnified by the grain and contrast achieved by overdevelopment of the film in the darkroom. Already the face or body has been transformed by the simple act of movement. Then in the second stage, the photo is printed. Sometimes thick glossy varnish is applied across the whole surface of the image, or alternatively, the photo is simply printed onto glossy paper. This is when more magic happens. Shining light directly onto the surface of the paper, the image is transformed again. This time the transforming agent is light. The surface of the photograph interacts with what is contained within the image. A final photo is taken.
Rescanning some old stuff.. And adding a new frame for my slides.
Now I regret having fixed my SLR against Light-Leaks.
"Each one of us is born with natural kindness..
We just choose to be bad..
That's why we need God..
We need to believe and trust Him..
Have faith in Him..
That His light will bring us back to goodness..
..and to His Kingdom.."
Energetic shiny light, colored in orange and blue tones. Was experimenting with a brighter lighting here. Took a lot of time to get it just right!
