Light writing. I'll probably do this again sometime...I'm just not too pleased overall. Nevertheless, I think it's cool. ;D
Anyone else love the ghosting arm? Haha
St. Louis's Union Station was built around the turn of the 19th-20th centuries, with the first train pulling into the station in 1894.
For a while it was one of the busiest railway stations in the world, with 100,000 passengers a day not unusual. Some of its busiest periods included the 1904 World's Fair, which occurred in St. Louis, and World War II, when thousands upon thousands of service men and women passed through on their way to the east or west coast before shipping out to their ultimate overseas assignments.
It is now a downtown attraction, with hotels, restaurants, event spaces, and shopping. This view looks from the ground floor of the grand hall, where people entered from and exited to the street, toward the second floor of the hotel attached to the station. In spite of the 19th century construction date, the station has an art deco vibe to it, at least to me. The architecture is something to behold.

My dad and I did a little light painting tonight. My feet went numb and I got a nasty blister on my finger from spinning stuff.
Snow and cold are still very much in evidence this late in March in this part of Ontario. This scene caught my eye as I was hiking along a secluded trail in the early morning. Try viewing in the light box.

I am honestly quite crap at camera settings. I have no head for f-numbers and shutter speeds. But occasionally, the correct combination results in a photo with a contrast between light and shadow that I really like. So here it is, unedited.
Light
Brings hopes in the life, light
Travels with a greater might, light
Gives vision to many eyes, light
A colorful horizon on eastside, light
Seems coming form the heights, light
Over comes evils of the night, light
To the darkness it always strikes, light
Faster than any flight, light
For many beings it is a diet, light
Thunder seems snatching sight, light
Rainbow is at wide, light
Spreads everywhere at sunrise, light
Over sky all white, light
Gives impact always bright, light
Shows path, put on right, light
If one thinks it is a life, light

light speaks for itself
yet another shot from the 50mm 1.8G. I am so in love with this lens and everything it can produce/
Yesterday was magic. In the early afternoon, I cut paper birds with families as part of the village's Sinterklaas festivities, then had a birthday lunch with a dear friend from out of town and her mother, then did live portrait sittings for a couple of hours, and then my opening-- fifty papercuttings in blue, black, and grey of so many things I love. I noticed this little spark of light as the first family sat down to cut their birds. More to come...
A naked, lost & abandoned light switch that had been through the great Brisbane flood and come out worse for wear.
"Ever since we crawled out of that primordial slime, that's been our unifying cry, "More light." Sunlight. Torchlight. Candlelight. Neon, incandescent lights that banish the darkness from our caves to illuminate our roads, the insides of our refrigerators. Big floods for the night games at Soldier's Field. Little tiny flashlights for those books we read under the covers when we're supposed to be asleep. Light is more than watts and footcandles. Light is metaphor. Light is knowledge, light is life, light is light."
Diane Frolov and Andrew Schneider
Part of the famous Worcester Coney Island Hot Dog sign outside the notorious establishment. The staff were so kind as to turn the lights on a bit early for me. Though sadly I didn't get much of the brightness in daylight - another time.
"Happiness can be found, even in the darkest of times, if one only remembers to turn on the light". Dumbledore.

Yesterday (Monday) was a beautiful clear crisp winter's day; lovely light for taking photographs. Nothing but wind and rain today though.
Located on the tip of the Fleurieu Peninsula, near the town of Cape Jervis, South Australia, Australia.
