A detail of how many miles I've walked per day ever since the first day I moved into DC. The large spike just right of center is when I went on vacation in Scandinavia.

My record miles/day is just under 70, set back in 2005 on my very first day in Rome. I woke up at about 7am and didn't get back to my hostel until around 3am -- exploring the city that entire time (including getting arrested for about 15 minutes and, within an hour later, meeting then-Prime Minister Berlusconi). Second place consists of several days in Switzerland (2007) where I was up with the sun and back well into the night, hiking through mountains that entire time... carved up my feet quite nicely those days thanks to wearing brand-new hiking boots. Definitely should've broken those in first!

so here's my project, inspired by lifehacker.

Thses guys are going on the audio stand for isolation. They consist of a steel spike sitting a pocketed copper plate. This all covered nicely chrome and matte black steel and a felt pad on the bottom.

Fantastic daytime views at the astronomical observatory in the heart of old town Sydney, Australia. Here overlooking Millers Point towards the Goat Island and the harbor, northwest. Lovely evocative park seats amongst the giant trees. A wedding was just being set up behind me this Saturday afternoon.

This is one of the significant stands of trees in Sydney. It's a Moreton Bay Fig, planted around 1870. trees.cityofsydney.nsw.gov.au/location/observatory-park/

Still applying the same concept as in the previous one, only the taskbar has grown since the screen resulution now allows for this waste of screen real estate.

Here's the excellent desktop wallpaper btw.

not much about it. mounting the motherboard on a board makes it easier to handle. I connected all the cables outside and then put it in my IKEA thingy like an oven. If I want to add or replace something, i just loosen the board, take it out, do my thing and put it back in.

Even though your iPhone snaps pictures at pretty decent resolutions (2048x1536 from the 3GS, 1600x1200 on previous iPhone versions), your device automatically resizes photos to a measly 800x600 when you go to email them. Here's how to fix that...

The cult of "GTD." I don't know how I first heard about GTD—I think it was from someone on Twitter, or from Matt Haughey on his own blog or on his Twitter, or maybe it was on Lifehacker. But I was curious, and I'm about 60 pages in, and it's making a lot of sense.

Some of the tricks, I've done in one way or another, but if I can incorporate all of David Allen's theory, I think I'll be more productive and less stressed.

I even bought a Moleskine to use in tracking all my "open loops" and for tracking "next actions."

This is my new desktop y very simple and dark,

launchy hide (only for quikly search xls, doc, ppt and some exe) is very usefull becose I have a lot of files a lot.

This is my current Windows XP desktop. I'm running ObjectDock Plus for the tool bar, Rainmeter and the 10-Foot HUD, plus a customized Weather skin, and a custom built Stock Market skin (both based on Grzegorz Gajdzinski's awesome weather and stock skins: members.lycos.co.uk/grzesiogg/index.php?option=com_conten.... I'm also running Trillian with the iChat-small skin, Thunderbird with the CuteBird theme, Firefox, iTunes, and host of goodies discovered on Lifehacker.

After moving furniture around i realized i needed another small table. This old filing drawer will make a good base and a lamp fits behind it nicely for reading.

When I chose granite to be my shelf material I needed a way to level, support, and isolate it from the metal structure. I chose to lay down "vapour barrier never-drying-silicone" because it have great vibration reduction properties and it won't dry out and crack. Since this product is sticky and mess it is covered in a hatched carpet backer that keeps it from oozing all-over and provides traction to the granite. I initially covered this in wax paper and let the weight of the granite press out the excess, then wax paper was removed and cleaned up and the granite remains spotless.

This is my first attempt at a rainmeter. If you comment, I will post the links for each skin.

Enjoy!

Using a pizza box is a great way to secure hardware for painting while protecting the threads. A toothpick jammed in does the same thing for washers.

A simple fix for the vulnerability below. Unlike their proposed fix of a zip tie, this still allows the emergency release to be pulled (with almost no increase in effort). Does it belong on ThereIFixedIt.com? Maybe. But it took 2 seconds, and works without interfering with safety... lifehacker.com/5549366/how-to-unlock-your-garage-door-fro...

Inspired by lifehacker.com/5286110/make-a-quick-and-dirty-sun-visor-t... I slipped my iPhone into a strap on my visor and drove for a little bit. It's a bit... shaky. The combination of how the photo sensor is read with the shaking creates an amusing visual effect

I recorded more than 90 seconds, but apparently Flickr autocrops down. Perhaps I'll actually get some bands like the LH article talks about and do a longer recording and speed it up to mimic the video as presented there, see if the speedup helps with the shake.

I broke my own rule about dog-earring pages to keep track of all the useful "lifehacks" in this book. I highly recommend this book (Lifehacker by Gina Trapani).
