This is sort of a half-joking response to this screenshot.

A work in progress.
I like how striking it is but I need to find a better way of displaying the track information...
All the elements are the same as my previous screenshot, I've just removed the wallpaper and re-jigged the rest of it is all.
If you want to see a proper screenshot, head over here to see it full resolution.
bialetti 2 cup Brikka.
can't believe i had to come to Seoul to discover this! have used their Mokas forever but this one has a built-in valve, so it kinda makes an espresso with a burst of pressure (makes a scary whooshing sound!). it's great cos u know when it's done, cos i've melted a Moka or two in my time, argh!
the key thing is that it produces crema! yay!

As a result of the rotation of months and days in a calendar year, you can use calendars from past years. Spice up your wall with a little vintage fun.
Paul, over at the financial blog WiseBread, was skimming over a magazine when he noticed a tiny little box with an interesting tip in it. There are only 14 combination—including leap years—of months and days on the Gregorian calendar. Calculating the matching years would be an arduous task, fortunately the web site Time & Date ... Lessons learned from Proof-of-Concept setup:
- Setup works in principle
- Setup is pretty noisy as it is, needs some soundproofing, rubber washers and stuff
- Motherboard needs to be further in the back, as with more gfx-cards and monitors I will need to use DVI to VGA connectors - too long to close the door
- there is still plenty of room , for example for additional drives, usb-drives or a card reader
- expect a (comparatably) uncluttered, but boring finish
Picture of swimming pool steps. Rocket Dock set to auto hide at the top of desktop. Task bar set the same on the bottom of the screen. Launchy handles pretty much everything.
Haven't posted a desktop screen shot in a while... and for once, my OS X desktop is the less interesting one. This is, in fact, Windows XP running via Parallels... though it is NOT, in fact, an original idea (I pretty much stole it right down to the icon and wallpaper choices).
At least I'm no longer staring at the plasticky default theme.
Dock: RocketDock
Icons: ecqlipse 2
Wallpaper: Aurora Borealis
Theme (not pictured, but it looks nice): Ashen II
Two USB hubs are silicone'd to the bottom of the desk. This handles device charging and a slew of peripherals.
I started with a self etching primer (grey), and lastly finishing with two coats of the white high build primer you see here.
Since the top of the desk is on a 5 degree rake I test fit granite and secured with a rope. I left about a half inch of slack and as long as it didn't disappear over night it would work.
using Quicksilver & AppleScript to change sound volume and mute with new Cherry keyboard -- surprised how hard it was to find a solution
New Desktop. I centered the Quick Launch at the bottom and made the icons bigger - forcing me to go to the Windows 7 Style. It's pretty nice though, I forgot how much I like it.
Comment/Questions welcome.
Found a great local shop that i had make these up for me and riveted down. They have a foam sticker back as well to rid of any vibrations. Their a memento of all the frustrating hours and the help along the way.
The scanner isn't so great (sorry 'bout those vertical lines) but this is a diagram my father-in-law drew explaining how the switch was built.
The trick is to find a switch that you have to hold down to BREAK the circuit, not close it. Most switches turn the light on when depressed. My FIN got his at Johnstone Supply.
See the Lifehacker post on this.

A while back my dresser quits on me. I remember the Lifehacker article on making a bookcase with the drawers.
Since the drawers are the same size, can't quite get the bookcase hack to work. But I could hack an existing bookcase. My mother made one for me when I was a child, not being a carpenter, one shelf was much larger than the others. For the last 15 or so years it's held some books and largish items, but not really useful. This week I added the extra drawers to the case to create an extra shelf.
A slightly less arty, wider shot of the gleaming taps, included for the benefit of Lifehacker.
Dunno what causes the gold reflection effect in the stainless steel.

I saw this cat sitting on some steps this past summer. I like his face.

I added a fold out map of the Chicago Loop in the front and an envelope to store checks, receipts, and other small papers, in the back of the notebook. This is a notebook I received at the Apple Store grand opening in Schaumburg, IL. The store is Illinois' first.
The days are getting shorter and colder so I had to use a space heater and convert my front porch into a work area. Thanks for your tolerance Brent.
thanks to our nerd household I am now using a laptop from Stuart. the mac mini (which fails to do what its supposed to since the 10.4.11 update) has to sit on the floor. it's his fault! bastard! ... looking up what it means in english ... (I have to improve my english swearing)
