For John, on Valentines Day.
Don’t ask me how many attempts I made to get a perfect still-life photo (this is why I don’t do still-life). In the end I went back to one I’d taken that was imperfect, but I liked it better. I’m not sure if there is a life lesson in that.
So learned a small life lesson: I can fit over $100 of bottles into my car. Which is great. Because that money can buy me more bottles of beverages. Which is exactly how it went down...

Pupils from Hinckley’s Dorothy Goodman School were given life lessons in money during a theme day backed by Hinckley & Rugby Building Society – including a trip to its Castle Street branch.
The 14 pupils aged 16 to 19 were treated to a day packed with advice from experts from WizeUp. Sponsored by Hinckley & Rugby, the activities included practising how to open a savings account during a visit to the Society’s branch in Hinckley town centre.

In the documentary "The Fog of War", Robert S. McNamara gave an insightful interview about his life and many controversial decision making he's involved in during his tenure as Secretary of Defense. This photo is inspired by one of his eleven life lessons.

Cedar and other native species such as camibar and espavel, are just a few of the almost 30 species of native trees that grow in all directions with the careful and loving work of the students and the expert guidance of instructors like Mayra.

It is a given in life to never judge a book by a cover. You have probably been given this important life lesson by many of your elders throughout your lifetime. This photo collage on the other hand, is a accurate representation of my life, and is something that can be judged, because it shows the many who have yet to meet me who I really am. For example, in this collage, I have included the beach in the background. This is due to the fact that this is my favorite place to be. Whether I am at a local beach, or we have traveled to a tropical location, that is where you can find me. In the top center, I have included my birthday sign, the Gemini. To the left and right of that, I have included some of my favorite brands that include Nike and Apple. Underneath the Gemini symbol, I have included a picture of an airplane, to symbolize my love to travel. Since a young child, I have been around many cultures, such as my Portuguese family, which we visit from time to time in their small island off the Portuguese mainland. In addition, My family and I have taken various trips to places like the Dominican Republic, which has allowed me to see how other places of the world are forced to live. Next, to the left of the airplane, I have included a picture of a Starbucks cup. This is due to the fact that I often like to treat myself to a Starbucks drink. Moving on the the right side of the airplane, I added an image of a soccer ball. Even though I play many sports, soccer is by far my favorite, and has become a big part of my life. I have been playing soccer since elementary school, and most recently I joined the high school team. Finally, Over all these pictures, I added an image of the american flag which symbolizes the country where I live. When you add all of these images up, you get me. Isabella Schwartz.

VASEOFF! ALL-STARS CHALLENGE - VOTE MAY 15-29, 2014
I have to say, this theme made me tear up a bit. A dear friend taught me one of the best life lessons, which is to live every day to the fullest. Embrace life. As floral artists, we are able to convey that lesson through the beauty of flowers. I have always loved the inherent energy that is found in the colors of hot pink, purple and coral. I started my design by creating a box with the liatris and then wove the other elements throughout this forest of liatris to bring the design Outta the Box!
Flowers and materials featured: Variegated ginger leaf, crispy wave birdnest fern, ‘Leonella’ gloriosa lily, prairie gay feather, lily grass, ‘Miss Piggy’ rose, Japanese fantail willow, ‘Cerise’ Parrot tulip, ‘Blue Vanda’ orchid, snowball viburnum and ‘Captain Rosette’ calla

Bryan Swann has been with Karin’s Florist in Vienna, Va., for more than five years and has over 16 years of industry experience. He is the shop’s director of special events, has a horticulture degree and studied floral design abroad, influencing his design with worldwide aesthetics. Bryan won the Victorian Christmas Centerpiece VaseOff! Challenge in December 2012.
