Mayra Monge - Life Lessons

“All those trees right there are Mrs. Mayra’s children. She planted them in 1992, they are already 28 years old,” says her husband Anibal, referring to a wooded area of the school grounds where they both began reforestation efforts about 30 years ago when they started working there.

PEARL HARBOR, Hawaii - (Aug. 1, 2014) - Former Navy pilot and prisoner of war (POW), retired Capt. Jerry Coffee, spoke with service members from across Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam and other regional commands, during an Aug. 1 presentation at Sharkey Theater, organized by the Junior Officer Social Society of Hawaii (JOSSH). For the past 20 years, Coffee has used his experiences as a POW to help inspire thousands across the nation and to deliver his life lessons of leadership, resiliency, and determination in the face of overwhelming adversity. Vito's Life Lessons

Week 31

Dirt is a Fun Meter. The more dirt, the more fun.

----------------

This isn't the photo I had planned for the week- I was going to use one of him in the new pool I bought. I bought the pool for the dogs- swimming is great exercise. He hates it of course. And the look of disgust goes great with this weeks challenge.

But this photo (shortly after pool time) totally stole my heart. This very expression is what I love about Vito. HIs attitude is bigger than life. I has asked him if he was ashamed of how dirty he was and this is the look! I love it.

Moffat Tunnel - West Portal.

Lesson Learned? If you are setting up to take a picture when a train approaches, set exposure mode to manual just in case the headlight shines right into the exposure meter.

I found this this evening at the bottom of the basement stairs. I'm giving credit for the kill to Newton, who's been hanging around the basement the last few days, even though it's been quite pleasant outside. Also, his breath has been vile, which may explain where the front half of the mouse went.

I went downstairs to enter bills, and Newton twined around my legs purring the whole time. I told him he was a fine brave kitty who had proven his worth and gave him lots of pets. (After photographing and disposing of the remains, of course...)

以娛樂片來看

Marvel

Clever Dog! by Ryan O'Meara

Life lessons, interwoven with real-life accounts from dog owners and dog experts of how dogs approach certain situations, the reasons why, and an explanation as to why this one animal has risen above all competitors to sit at our table and integrate seamlessly into human society. Recognising how the dog – above all others – earned his title of 'man's best friend' is one thing, but this book goes beyond recognition, and seeks to explain how we can take the 'Fido formula' and apply it to our own lives to enjoy greater happiness, career prospects, family and personal relationships, prosperity, and even health. Be happy and successful – learn from the best.

Kaweah River at Slick Rock

Three Rivers, Tulare County, California

My wife and I were able to catch the annual fireworks show put on by the city of Sandy (in Utah) again this year. We always try to make it to the show because Sandy puts on a pretty good show. We sat a couple blocks away and up on a hillside (fantastic view!) the view is actually from a nearby cemetery. It’s kind of a strange site, a few hundred people (including families with small children) with blankets and coolers sitting among the grave stones in the dark watching a fireworks display. I’m sure there’s a deeply ironic life lesson in there somewhere but I’ll leave it alone.

I used my Canon EOS Rebel and various ISO settings and shutter speeds to get this group of photos.

Day 40 of 365.

May 9, 2008 // My little sister, Hollie.

ROUGH week. There is an awful cold going around and I started to come down with it on Monday. Even though I was in bed an average of 17 hours a day this week, I did manage to get taught some life lessons in counting my blessings and seeing the Lord’s hand everyday.

Ready?

Monday was a bit miraculous for me. I went to work my early morning shift at the temple and I had already started to feel really awful. Still, I was blessed to get through my shift. By the time I got home though I went straight to bed, in my dress and everything, and slept the rest of the day and night.

Tuesday I went to work and class but ended up having to leave early because I was so sick. Because I am without a car I had to walk 2 miles home. I was again blessed to be able to get home. I spent the rest of the day and night in bed.

Wednesday I stayed in bed until about 5 pm. I had to do a museum assignment that was going to take me about 2 hours. There was no way I would be able to walk or even stand. Luckily I am blessed with a wonderful cousin/roommate. She pushed me in a wheelchair all over campus for hours so I could complete my assignment and then brought me back home so I could go to bed. Christlike person - my roommate Hunter.

Thursday I made it to my classes to give a presentation, have a meeting, and see a presentation. Considering I was unable to get out of bed for any length of time the 6 hours I spent at the museum was miraculous for me. I had to leave class a few times because of the coughing but I was blessed to make it home. Hunter, my wonderful roommate, picked me up and then I went…back to bed again.

Friday I woke up feeling worse than ever. I was supposed to work in the temple and I tried but after prayer meeting I asked to go home. Miraculously they had a woman show up that they weren’t expecting, she just felt like she should come. That was a miracle for me. I went home to bed and spent the entire day in bed sleeping and begging Heavenly Father to help me through this cold.

Saturday I actually woke up physically feeling about the same but something inside me told me I had reached the peak and was on the downhill stretch. I could tell it was getting better when I was able to stay awake longer than an hour.

What have I learned this week? The same thing that I have been learning the past few weeks. We are not necessarily going to be delivered of our trials but, if we are obedient and cheerful, will ALWAYS be given the strength to endure.

On Monday I was blessed to be able to get through my temple shift. Friday was different. My miracle in the temple on Friday was not that I was healed, but that someone was sent to take my place. Hunter was also an angel for me this week. Our prayers are not always answered the way we think they should be but our lessons always have a purpose. Despite this awful cold I am grateful for this week.

"It's Fun to be a little Crazy. Everyone should try it once in a while."

Vito came on a day trip to Waterton National Park with me today and really had a LOT of fun. All day he was just happy and carefree. Best day in a long time!

This photo is just one of many- but I cracked up at his expression. What a guy!

Life lesson chapter 3: #7

This one was even sadder. It was a female and her pup. As far as we could tell, they had died of natural causes. It seemed the pup had been big and had gotten stuck, unable to be fully born.

Over and over I saw the harsher side of what it was like to live for these wild artic animals.

Life lesson chapter 2: #17

As we were getting closer, we came upon a sonar buoy... these were dropped from planes by our airforce. They then floated on the surface monitoring the undersea sounds for Russian Submarines (the cold war was still in full swing in 1978). After a bit there was a charge that would explode the buoy so it would sink... this one hadn't and this scientist was great at dismantling them to use the sonar mikes for his own purposes, monitoring whales.

It was not reassuring that he had one artificial leg. Only a very few people were willing to help.

When the seas had been really rough this scientists leg would sometimes detach and proceed him down the ladder from the wheel house. It became pretty routine to pass him back his leg.
