The hike to Wahclella falls in the Columbia River gorge is about 1 mile (awesome hike, by the way). At about 3/4 of a mile, you meet this river, cross a bridge and walk thru what I call the lower Wahclella Rapids. This is a shot where I'm trying to share with you the power and flow of this body of water. The sound is pretty amazing......

I have recently begun photographing chefs and food. Since chefs are the new rockstars, this makes sense.... I like to approach food photography inspired by sculpture and fine art as much as from still life photography.

Ever seen Penn's still life work? No? Get off of flickr now and go look at it! ;-)

So much life can be captured in a single droplet. Each time I capture one, I feel the excitement of what these colors and forms might do in this droplet. Thus far, I've not been disappointed. Have I mentioned how much I'm enjoying the rain lately? ... Well, I am!!!

My still life meets the project goals because it is a light painted scene of multiple overlapping objects, tells a story, and is interesting to look at. I think my composition is well lit and positioned. I placed multiple objects on top of and in front of a black backdrop and turned off all the lights. After the lights were off, I light painted my scene with a flash light. If I had to change anything, I would use a more 'white' light to make the photo less blue.

Look inside, look inside your tiny mind, then look a bit harder

Cause we’re so uninspired, so sick and tired, of all the hatred you harbour

So you say it’s not OK to be gay, well I think you’re just evil

You’re just some racist, who can’t tie my laces

Your point of view is medieval

Fuck you (fuck you)

Fuck you very very much

Cause we hate what you do and we hate your whole crew

So please don’t stay in touch

Fuck you (fuck you)

Fuck you very very much

Cause your words don’t translate and it’s getting quite late

So please don’t stay in touch

Do you get, do you get a little kick out of being small-minded?

You want to be like your father, it’s approval you’re after

Well that’s not how you find it

Do you, do you really enjoy living a life that’s so hateful?

Cause there’s a hole where your soul should be

You’re losing control a bit

And it’s really distasteful

Fuck you (fuck you)

Fuck you very very much

Cause we hate what you do and we hate your whole crew

So please don’t stay in touch

Fuck you (fuck you)

Fuck you very very much

Cause your words don’t translate and it’s getting quite late

So please don’t stay in touch

Fuck you (x7)

You say you think we need to go to war

Well you’re already in one

Cause it’s people like you

That need to get slew

No one wants your opinion

Fuck you (fuck you)

Fuck you very very much

Cause we hate what you do and we hate your whole crew

So please don’t stay in touch

Fuck you (fuck you)

Fuck you very very much

Cause your words don’t translate and it’s getting quite late

So please don’t stay in touch

Fuck you

Oh wait it’s Salt Life

After our curtailed second pose (counting from when I joined the session) we had another 20 minute one, for which Lily adopted a more relaxed posture.

I decided to switch to sanguine conté on A4 tan toned paper.

This is actually my second attempt at a sketch as soon after I started I realised that the pose (at least from the angle I was viewing at) was better suited to landscape than portrait format). I abandoned my first attempt after about a minute and started this one on a fresh sheet. I think I took about 7 minutes on this.

It was the triangle formed by the right forearm, head and shoulders that particularly grabbed my attention from this angle.

I've not done much still life.I like the idea of collections of objects such as these from my jewellery box. I'm not sure how to light my objects but its something I hope to improve on throughout this 366. Some post processing in Photoshop.
