Went to the Moseley Road Baths in Balsall Heath for a Brumtography photo meet.
The Public Library and Baths on Moseley Road, Balsall Heath, form one of many pairings of baths and libraries in Birmingham, England.
The library was opened in 1895, with the baths following in 1907. Made of red brick and terracotta in Edwardian style, the structure is one of only three swimming pools in the country listed at Grade II* status.
The buildings are currently managed by Birmingham City Council, however, the council has announced plans to close the baths in June 2017.
It is a Grade II* Listed Building.

Men's Bath Rooms - this area is no longer used for bathing, these days storing boxes and other things. But still the original bath tubs in many of the rooms.
In the 1900s no one had their own bathrooms, so they had to come here to have a bath.
It was to the right of the main entrance.

Erick and I went to the library's monthly book sale today. I got some books and some magazines. I bought a book for Erick (that will be in his flickr) and some magazines for my mom (not shown here) :)

Here one gets a pretty good feeling of how the individual levels more or less 'float' above one-another, each stack of floors representing a different function. As each 'function-block' is horizontally shifted, the facade 'net' simply follows this shift.

I spent a week in Charlotte, NC on a business trip with a friend of mine (he works for the same agency). Our scheduled training got canceled by snow (as you can see from the picture, it was a monumental blizzard). Looking for things to do in Charlotte I located the Billy Graham Library, which I figured would surely be a surreal experience. My friend was a bit reluctant at first, but I assured him it would be worth it.
I was right about the Surreal part. The first thing you see after entering is an anomotronic talking cow. From there you are shuddled from room to room (as the door slam automatically behind you). Each room gives you a different presentation about Billy Graham. Guides stalk you at any moment and hover over you as you look around and take pictures (allowed, but no flash).
As you go deeper and deeper into the bowels of the Library you notice a funny thing happening. It becomes less and less about Billy Graham and more about your immortal sole. In the final presentation you get a card where you can check one of three choice. The first choice is that you prayed with Billy Graham today, the second that you gave your soul to Jesus today, and the third is that you want them to mail you some Jesus related literature.
As we exited my friend seemed silent and befuddled. I knew I had done my job :)
