Let's send out our thanks to all the corporate liability attorneys we meet for keeping us safe with warnings like these. The German company that made my pacemaker didn't even bother to mention the potential danger from bubble levels.

Having just crossed over the Hereward Trail, Adtranz 'Turbostar' unit 170 203 takes the switchback route across the 'Bedford Level' and on towards Manea and Peterborough on Saturday 26th January 2013. Two swans, rather conveniently, fly across towards the River Ouse.

a level 5 alert fire is the highest level a fire can be gauged. a level 5 requires the assistance of all available firefighters to help control the situation. yesterday i came across this fire incident which was given this status as the conditions, high level winds, water shortage and very dry weather, induced the flames even further. this large fire razed through this community of urban informal settlers in metro manila scorching hundreds of houses that left hundreds of families homeless. firefighters were able to control the fire after 12 hours

(Done for Russell Davies LyddleEnd2050 project)

Due to a combination of global warming and Thames Water's inability to fix the pipe at the end of my road, sea levels in 2050 have risen dramatically.

In the chaos of the flood the polite society of Lyddle End collapsed. Lead by the Station Master, a crack team of British Rail employees highjacked a goods train carrying a load of timber destined for the Lyddle End Kebab and Cocktail Stick Company. They used the wood to construct a platform around the ruins of the castle on Lyddletop, the highest point in the county. As the waters rose they defended the Railtrack Memorial Platform against all comers. Think of it like Trumpton meets Waterworld.

Now Lyddletop lies just below the surface. On what is left of the mainland violence is rife, as gangs fight over dwindling resources and space. On the platform a hierarchical structure exists, with the Station Master the, as yet, unchallenged head of state. It is a military dictatorship and uniform codes and ranks are strictly enforced.

The station team survive by growing and harvesting whatever food they can. The also have a harpoon, with which they collect any useful flotsam. In this happy scene they have successfully secured a drowned N-Gauge cow (a species genetically enhanced on the mainland in an attempt to solve food shortages).

Lovely deep red in this.

The first and bottom of several levels of maze-like catwalks extending up into the structure. Here we are about 40 ft. up from the lower level floor. Much caution is needed as they are rusty and corroded at best, and tend to shift beneath you as you walk.

A WindWatcher-esque tale!...

I took this additional shot in an attempt to help describe the near disaster I had during this session.

It turns out that I found the limits of the HQ delta on only my second outing with it. I had started out with my PFK on the basis that the live weather data indicated winds of 16 to 18 knots (beaufort 4-5), but the offshore wind was really sketchy and forecast to weaken so I did not persist. The decision was easy to make as the rig smashed into the rocky beach when the PFK stalled. Had Dave Mitchell not suggested buying a lens hood for the A590 then I'm pretty certain it would have been game over. The shock of the impact stopped the SDM running and popped open the battery chamber.

So the evidence was that the wind was already dropping and up went the big HQ.

From the outset the flying was interesting to say the least - I should have just taken the kite down but I wanted some photos for my troubles.

First up was some overflying and subsequent rig dragging across the rocks as the kite stalled lazily. I hauled the line and rig back within listening range and the SDM was still running.

I took advantage of the gusts to get the HQ up quickly into the steadier breeze. I could see the kite flexing frequently under the strain of the gusts but cautiously kept moving towards the target. Just as I was in position the wind picked up forcing the HQ into a big dive.

Now if you can imagine being stood on the rocky beach as you see above, I was stood in a depression and couldn't see the sea. The kite dived below my eyeline taking the rig down with it. The line snagged on the lip of the rocks and after a few seconds the kite miraculously took to the air again, unsnagging the line and lifting the rig again.

As soon as I lost sight I was convinced that the HQ has gone for a swim. It must have been very close. When it rose again I decided that I'd had enough luck and got the kite down as soon as I could and discovered that the third crash of the afternoon had stopped the SDM script again. No matter - everything survived.

Probably the most photographed female Kingfisher in Somerset. However, I did have to wait just over 3 hours for her to land on this stick. She stayed for around 5mins before flying off, and was going up and down the channel all the time but just didn't seem interested in the stick. It was interesting in that when she did land on, I never saw or heard she coming, a real stealth arrival.

Good example of why it's called a coffin level. About 5ft high, wider at the shoulders, no more than 9 inches on the floor.

After a certain point it's impossible to turn around. Too narrow.
