This three level auto rack was originally found on LGauge .com as seen here: lgauge.com/trains/freightcars/autork/autork01.jpg I redesigned that model and added tiny automobiles to fit into the racks. There is but a single plate worth of clearance between the automobiles and the rack above.

I can't believe this magnificent structure is in our back yard. It was lit up again for Remembrance Day 2010. For those that say it is nothing to see at night have never gotten up close. Get off the highway and walk around it!

Diefenbunker: Canada's Cold War Museum
The Bunker was essential to the continuity of government in the event of a nuclear crisis. Not only was there an executive government in the form of the War Cabinet, but select government departments had to function as well.
Eighteen offices on the 300 and 400 level would have provided 24-hour support to their respective ministers. Look down the corridor and you’ll see the Department of Transportation, the Department of Public Works, and the Department of Energy, Mines and Resources.
Government agencies were also part of the Bunker’s operations. For example, the Canadian Housing and Mortgage Corporation had an office here. This agency would have helped establish temporary accommodations for displaced citizens.
Take a look into the recreated offices, making note of the desks. Bunker psychologists determined that bright colours would help people in a lockdown situation cope with catastrophic conditions up top. These offices reflect that design decision.

The Level Crossing at Heckington. Not many manually operated crossings left now, and it adds to the effect of the village... a reminder of times when life was a lot less hurried and the days of many branch lines and village stations.
This level crossing deserves listed status, the gates adding to the scene with the windmill in the background.
During the early days of my South Bay photography, Cargill’s Newark salt plant and its surrounding crystallizer beds appeared on my map as terra incognita. From the beginning, I wanted to photograph Cargill’s facility, both for its colorful nature and its role as the last truly active salt plant in the Bay Area. The plant, originating as Arden Salt Works #2 in the 1920s, has long provided the distinctive sight of stacked salt on the edge of the former wetlands. In the current day, an annual harvest of around 500,000 tons is added to the twin mounds of salt that are 500 feet long and 75 feet high. It is a striking landmark.
In 2010, after several years of discussion, I was able to secure Cargill’s permission for five sessions to photograph their property under supervision. This session involved a trip out to a recently harvested crystallizer bed, where laser-guided levelling equipment was preparing the bed for the next round of brine and salt precipitation. The crystallizer beds have a floor of unharvested salt that separated the brine from bay mud below and provides a structural surface for the balloon-tired dump trucks using in hauling the harvest to the washhouse. Some of the images in this set show the activity of bed levelling while others convey my intoxication with the colors and textures of the place.
I took these documentary photographs with the permission and supervision of Cargill. Kite flying is prohibited over Cargill-controlled lands without their permission.
