A 1960 Raleigh Police Model Bicycle, taking part in the 49th Ipswich to Felixstowe Historic Vehicle Run on 5/5/2019. First vehicle away from Christchurch Park.
For a brief (less than a week) period, this was the best photograph ever taken of this species in Costa Rica, which is notoriously flighty, quite uncommon, and typically a canopy dweller. Shortly after this photo was taken, another group of American birders found one perched even closer near Arenal and blew my pictures out of the water.

Set in a ship that moves through time past, present and future, Nowhere Less Now7 traces the journey of a relative who sailed the seas in the Royal Navy over a hundred years ago. Finding his inscription on an ancient baobab tree on the African island of Zanzibar, Lindsay Seers connects intimate stories of individuals dragged along in the strong currents of global histories. This is a new incarnation of the continuously evolving work interwoven with some of the Gallery's own story through its founder Richard Glynn Vivian and Swansea's own maritime past.
Nowhere Less Now7 is part of The Artangel Collection, an initiative to bring outstanding film and video works, commissioned nad produced by Artangel, to galleries and museums across the UK. The Artangel Collection has been developed in partnership with Tate, generously supported by the Esmee Fairbairn Foundation and The Foyle Foundation with public funding from Art Council England.

Part of a series of photos today looking at abandoned strip malls in Mesa Arizona. Ghostly, haunted, and curious as these are not extremely old structures, they have potential for modern use, yet they site\ among as as a reminder.
Conference
The EU is facing a dramatically aggravated security environment in the East and South of its borders. At the same time, the financial crisis has led to drastic uncoordinated cuts in the defence budgets of the EU Member States. The EU's ability to project power into its neighbourhood is weak, most of its CSDP (Common Security and Defence Policy) operations are just too little, too late. While territorial defence of Western Europe continues to depend heavily on the US, several consecutive American administrations have been urging Europeans to take more responsibility for their own security within NATO.
The European Council has so far taken only small steps to encourage greater cooperation among Member States – clearly insufficient, if one looks at the alarming and deteriorating circumstances.
On the eve of the European Council on Defence of 25th June, ALDE will present its 'Roadmap towards an Integrated EU Military' to show the way how to achieve more European defence for less money, essentially by building an integrated European pillar of NATO.
The event will see a presentation of the roadmap by ALDE President Guy Verhofstadt, followed by keynote speeches by two ALDE Ministers of Defence and their former Finnish counterpart.
