Through the lens: Pentax MX
- Here is a great vintage SLR camera in recent action, the Pentax MX SLR camera with a 50mm f/1.7 lens mounted and in great working condition. This model was made from the late 70s to the early 80s. Everything is manual, and everything feels great when I tried it first hand.

Modern hypersaline lacustrine mudcracks in Utah, USA. (12 September 1999) (lenscap for scale)
Mudcracks are diagnostic sedimentary structures indicating subaerial exposure of sediment surfaces, with alternating wet & dry conditions. They are much more common that raindrop imprints, which indicate the same environmental setting. Mudcracks are most likely to occur in fine-grained siliciclastic sediments, fine-grained carbonate sediments, and in some evaporitic settings.
Mudcracks are distinctive and easy to identify, but they do vary in appearance. The cracks themselves vary in width, depth, and areal density. Mudcrack polygons also vary in size & shape.
The modern examples shown above are near the shore of Great Salt Lake, a landlocked, hypersaline body of water in northern Utah. The whitish-colored material is a halite crust, formed by evaporation of lake water.
Locality: Saltair, northwestern side of Interstate 80, west of Salt Lake City, northwestern Salt Lake County, northern Utah, USA
This is a Canon EOS 35mm FILM camera (NOT digital). The lens is a 55mm Quantaray CN AF (missing lenscap). Comes with a nice Targus case. Asking $75 for the whole package but feel free to make an offer.
My wife and I also collect minerals. This is a peice of Elephant ear selenite from Columbus NM, purchased from the miner at the weekly farmers market in Las Cruces NM. This piece is truly massive, notice the lenscap for scale.

The "sunglasses" are the beautifully over-engineered lenscap of a Rolleiflex twin lens reflex camera.
Welcoming the new addition. We're a little intimidated (my trusty old Olympus and I) but somehow we'll find a way to make our bizarre love triangle work.
Trying out a new technique called reverse lens photography. It is where you literally take your lens off the camera and hold it reversed against the body to take a macro photo. Haven't figured out the best way to get a consistent focus yet.
I kinda liked the effect on this photo, but it is so alike the self-portrait 2 photo's back. So I doubted to put it online for a long time. As an experiment it does well.
Since my camera doesnt allow for multiple exposure (at least not by dummies who havn't read the manual properly), I used the lenscap to allow for the mutiple exposures here. Creative thinking ftw \o/

fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jardin_du_Luxembourg
this one is blurry. I don't care, because it marks one of the FIRST times I've gotten her to look at the camera when I've asked! WooHOO! (any moms or those who photograph toddlers may appreciate this achievement.)
despite the blur I actually like the composition. She was standing with her back to the sliding-glass door and the snowy outdoors, with another window to her left.
i told her she could hold my lens cap, which she repeatedly tried to reattach to my lens as I tried to snap her picture.
next up: getting her to be still... just for a moment... ;c )

I really enjoy that saying "Sorry for the creepy paparazzi. I need my picture for today" is becoming a common thing for me.
5 things I love:
1) People that read newspapers. 2) Blueberry pie. 3) Twirly mustaches. 4) How I Met Your Mother. 5) Pomegranates.

A pretty generic photo...but there was lots of yummy bokeh :)
Happy Bokeh Wednesday :)
I <3 Canon!
I'm coo-coo for Canon!
I know. I'm weird. I'm ok with it. I suck at ideas lately. I have something that'll hopefully work out for tomorrow, though. I wanted to do it today, but I haven't the supplies to make it work right.
Year 2, Day 4
I sometimes take pictures of lens caps on grass; do you have a problem with filling-in frames? I don't; I kind of like them. Problems are for the weak.
This was a test shot with my Panny G9 before leaving for the airport in 2019 for another trip to China.
I was not able to travel this year (2020) because of Covid19.
I am not sure what I will be posting next.
Maybe some local shots of the states or maybe just some cell pics from my past China trips.
My first shot of the day, a lens cap from my new 50mm 1.8 II "Nifty Fifty" lens. It's an amazing lens!
