Northbound CTrail train 6402 had broken down just outside its final destination as P40DC 6701 (blt. Nov. 1993 by GE as AMTK 834, acquired in 2005 and rebuilt by Beech Grove in 2019-2020) suffered ground faults and sat disabled on the curve beneath Interstate 91 for over two and a half hours. The two passengers aboard were taken off the train and then management ultimately decided to leave the train until the next northbound showed up. Here is train 6454 coupling up beneath the highway so they can shove into track four at Union Station. After a brief pause detrain their passengers and then load any folks headed south they started right back as a double draft to New Haven as train 6455.
It made an interesting sight with six cars (three of each type Mafersa and MBB) and two P40DCs all in CTrail paint as seen in this view looking down off the Memorial Bridge at about MP 61 of Amtrak's Springfield line above the former Amtrak mail facility where the Fast Mail arrived and terminated daily until Amtrak President David Gunn terminated mail and express business in 2004.

Lendal bridge in York over the river Ouse. The river in this shot is several feet above normal.
This bridge replaced an earlier ferry service, which had operated from Barker Tower (right of shot), on the south-west bank, to Lendal Tower (on the left).
basta mudar o que sentes;
E se queres passear por esses lugares,
basta expressar o desejo.
Aqui, todo o ser gera um anjo;

The 12th century Tournai font in Winchester Cathedral.
The magnificent Tournai black marble font has been used to baptize the cathedral's congregation since about 1150 AD. Its square shape lends its sides to tell the story of St Nicholas. He is easily recognized in his bishop’s mitre and crozier and in a cartoon like way is shown going about his kindly acts.
One part of the carving tells the tale of a poor nobleman who comes kneeling before St Nicholas. He has led a life of shame because he cannot afford to give his three daughters a dowry.
St. Nicholas takes pity on the man giving him a purse of gold coins. The nobleman passes it onto his daughter whilst the young man she hopes to marry stands to the side. It is difficult to imagine the impact of such imagery in a time when there were few images created. The font would have been rather like a picture book for those gazing upon it.
A wonderful boat filled with travellers rears up on the other side, with St Nicholas saving lives at sea. The depiction of the boat is thought to be the earliest showing a boat with high prow and fixed stern rudder.
Contrary to its description as a black marble, Tournai stone is in fact a fine grained Lower Carboniferous, dark limestone which takes a polish. It has the appearance of marble when polished and hence its name.

Yesterday was warmer than it has been in recent days, so I intended to go snowshoeing. As the weather went from sunny to gray, however, I felt less and less like exploring nature. As an alternative activity, I decided to visit Sheboygan's John Michael Kohler Art Center. I like our art center because it encourgages the visitor to stretch his/her boundaries of what is art.
I decided to shoot in b&w so the focus would be on details without the distraction of colors. This, in my mind, is one of the beauties of b&w photography.
