The principal teacher training school, established three years after the foundation of the Republic of Turkey in 1923, Gazi Education Institute in Ankara was assigned to bring up teachers who were equipped with all necessary skills to exercise their profession in conditions of hardship. The Institute's Arts-Crafts Department developed a curriculum around the concept of "work" with a pedagogical approach that emphasized "learning by doing." Taking place at the Contemporary Arts Center in collaboration with the Çankaya Municipality, following its initial presentation at SALT Galata, the exhibition "Idealist School, Productive Studio" explores the contributions this comprehensive mastery of knowledge made to future generations.

They were going to be vegetarian, but genius that I am, I put fish sauce in them. Oh, and I know my technique sucks. Sucks hard. Don't care. I come from a French background, and I'm kind of "learning by doing" when it comes to Chinese.

I´m learning Adobe Photoshop CS3, so I imported the RAW file and am still amazed at the dozens of controls that enhance/modify the photo. Afterwards, I burned out the background and used the healing brush on Gareth (although I am still not sure how it works).

I guess I should open the Adobe Photoshop for Photographers book Vikram gave me last year...

HAF conducts community meetings in Al Haouz province with locally elected women who are identified with support of community leaders. The purpose of these meetings is to train women on how to be leaders in their community for a project sponsored by the National Endowment for Democracy. In this regard, HAF is working through NED program to empower locally elected women and build their facilitation and management skills of participatory development processes through HAF’s learning by doing approach.

The participatory democratic ideas and principles that are presented, discussed, and considered in the program include:

• The LEWs voicing the concerns they are facing in their councils.

• How they will overcome the challenges they are facing in their councils.

• Share and learn about each other’s experiences

• Learn about the HAF’s learning-by-doing approach of participatory development

• Where and how PD is presented in their councils in consideration of the current status and the goals (personal and community) they seek to achieve

• Understanding the design and purpose of PD methods

• Training them on the facilitation skills needed to conduct the meetings

"Learning by Doing" was the philosophy of this Ed Tech workshop led by English Language Fellow Susan Toth at the National Institute for Education in Maharagama.

Dary and Dennis were my tent neighbors when my friends and I spent our weekends at Anawangin Cove, Zambales. We were completely strangers but we were able to share a good laugh and a good meal. This picture was taken at the top of the Capones Island's Lighthouse, an almost an hour boat ride from Anawangin.

The One Hundred Strangers project is a learning group for people who want to improve the social and technical skills needed for taking portraits of strangers and telling their stories. The method is learning by doing.

The Tax Inspectors Without Borders (TIWB) initiative enables the transfer of tax audit knowledge and skills to tax administrations in developing countries through a real time, “learning by doing” approach. Experts – currently serving or recently retired tax officials – are deployed to work directly with local tax officials on current audits and audit-related issues concerning international tax matters, and to share general audit practices.

Experiments are a great way of learning by doing. The students of Noble High were shown an audio visual to make them understand the cause of volcano eruption. There was a spark in their eyes to learn more and they tried their hands-on the experiment as they prepared a functional volcano model. They were thrilled to prepare it by themselves. They prepared the earth's crust with the help of plaster of paris and observed the lava slowly oozing out of the volcano which excited them that was actually the colorful soda that they used to create the molten lava. Such laboratory experiments promote a student’s ability to collaborate effectively with team members in carrying out complex tasks, to share the work, to contribute and respond to ideas. Their expressions while seeing the completed project, were worth capturing that portrayed the power of small wins.

I downloaded the Artizen HDR program and am learning by doing. This is the first result that I found to have any artistic value.

kinda my first "real" long exposure - over 30sec, which I can't do with my own camera. Far away from great, but I will learn (at least I hope so, learning by doing, isn't it?).

I'm not very used to this camera. I used the songs specialist and evil by Interpol to measure the time, magic tape and paper to keep the shutter pressed, a borrowed tripod and camera and the view out of my window.
