Was ich während des Fotokurses "Einführung in die Natur- und Landschaftsfotografie" bei der SGV-Wanderakademie in Arnsberg fotografierte.
I've got that look of curiosity, but it's more like "Hmmm?" than "I wonder what this will look like."
A black & white conversion. I worked with the color conversion more than I usually do. Learning by doing.
I wish there were some light fall-off here but there's not. I'm finding that I really like that contrast of a light and dark side to a close portrait. Basic rules of photography, but I'm seeing why in my portraits.

I´m learning Adobe Photoshop CS3, so I imported the RAW file and am still amazed at the dozens of controls that enhance/modify the photo. Afterwards, I burned out the background and used the healing brush on Gareth (although I am still not sure how it works).
I guess I should open the Adobe Photoshop for Photographers book Vikram gave me last year...

HAF conducts community meetings in Al Haouz province with locally elected women who are identified with support of community leaders. The purpose of these meetings is to train women on how to be leaders in their community for a project sponsored by the National Endowment for Democracy. In this regard, HAF is working through NED program to empower locally elected women and build their facilitation and management skills of participatory development processes through HAF’s learning by doing approach.
The participatory democratic ideas and principles that are presented, discussed, and considered in the program include:
• The LEWs voicing the concerns they are facing in their councils.
• How they will overcome the challenges they are facing in their councils.
• Share and learn about each other’s experiences
• Learn about the HAF’s learning-by-doing approach of participatory development
• Where and how PD is presented in their councils in consideration of the current status and the goals (personal and community) they seek to achieve
• Understanding the design and purpose of PD methods
• Training them on the facilitation skills needed to conduct the meetings

Dary and Dennis were my tent neighbors when my friends and I spent our weekends at Anawangin Cove, Zambales. We were completely strangers but we were able to share a good laugh and a good meal. This picture was taken at the top of the Capones Island's Lighthouse, an almost an hour boat ride from Anawangin.
The One Hundred Strangers project is a learning group for people who want to improve the social and technical skills needed for taking portraits of strangers and telling their stories. The method is learning by doing.

Experiments are a great way of learning by doing. The students of Noble High were shown an audio visual to make them understand the cause of volcano eruption. There was a spark in their eyes to learn more and they tried their hands-on the experiment as they prepared a functional volcano model. They were thrilled to prepare it by themselves. They prepared the earth's crust with the help of plaster of paris and observed the lava slowly oozing out of the volcano which excited them that was actually the colorful soda that they used to create the molten lava. Such laboratory experiments promote a student’s ability to collaborate effectively with team members in carrying out complex tasks, to share the work, to contribute and respond to ideas. Their expressions while seeing the completed project, were worth capturing that portrayed the power of small wins.
The Tax Inspectors Without Borders (TIWB) initiative enables the transfer of tax audit knowledge and skills to tax administrations in developing countries through a real time, “learning by doing” approach. Experts – currently serving or recently retired tax officials – are deployed to work directly with local tax officials on current audits and audit-related issues concerning international tax matters, and to share general audit practices.

“Acquiring literature review skills through learning by doing: Use of video feedback technology in teaching”
kinda my first "real" long exposure - over 30sec, which I can't do with my own camera. Far away from great, but I will learn (at least I hope so, learning by doing, isn't it?).
I'm not very used to this camera. I used the songs specialist and evil by Interpol to measure the time, magic tape and paper to keep the shutter pressed, a borrowed tripod and camera and the view out of my window.
There are scads of art students in all the galleries (not just the Louvre) learning by doing. What a great way to spend a day!
It's fascinating to see, not just how accurate they are at copying, but what they choose to do differently. It is truly a form of art, not simply reproduction.
Approach
We will explore the use of folkhighschool methodology in the topic of education for sustainability, what means in practice:
1. - Partnership of teachers and learners, involvement learners in educational process and teachers also learn during the process
2. - Holistic approach – involving all kinds of intelligence of the learners and all aspects of human being: reasoning, emotions, hand skills, and values
3. - Learning by doing: importance of practical activities
4. - Community based education - reacting to concrete needs of the certain community; develop the educational program from locally based problems to global issues
5. - “enlightenment” – opening horizons, waking one’s creativity and motivation for farther development
6. - Using old and new technologies – particularly ICT, using Internet and multimedia in education
- team-building approach leading to building a bond between the participants of the educational process
Ended up with a few bunny shots tonight ... A student and I were discussing the final exam in the college parking lot when this little one circled us! What a treat to be interrupted by this brave one! The college is near wooded areas (though still in a developed area) so it wasn't a total surprise, but still a bit dismayed at its lack of shyness. I fear we have conditioned much of our wildlife into being 'too brave' among humans - my camera's lens betrays the distance a bit, but we just enjoyed the observation!
A topic of our discussion was 'learning by doing' and I am a big supporter of experiential learning. I also believe there's a place for observation and reflection. The multi-faceted approach can be so valuable -- not only for addressing various learning styles, but for enriching the entire process. So, thanks, little bunny, for reminding me of the awe of our little place in the world...and for helping me connect that to the teaching/learning process! Edison State College, Naples, FL
World Laparoscopy Hospital provides learning by doing. It provides real-world laparoscopic surgery experience by allowing the trainee to get hands directly on whatever surgeons are learning and developing a sense of empowerment. After taking this laparoscopic training course, Surgeons and Gynecologists can perform laparoscopic surgery themself on their patient with confidence.
The "learning by doing" principle improves one's problem solving skills and increases the trust levels of the participants.

Manong (Mister, I forgot to get his name), is the caretaker (with his wife) of the campsite near the summit of Mount Manabo Batangas. They just live few hundred meters before the peak. He built a long bench near their house where guest campers could take a rest and have a cup of coffee for free. We forgot to bring charcoals for Plok's special chicken barbecue, but fortunately, he was generous enough to give us his spare for free.
