Swedenborg Gymnasiet. They carry Swedish courses, among lots of other things. Formerly a hospital, or so I've heard, they've later turned it into a large school and learning center, when a brand new and modern regional hospital has been built just outside the city. Swedes appear to be highly inventive and versatile.
The school in this image is Queen Victoria Public School in Belleville, Ontario. It's the oldest operating school in Belleville and was built in 1912. The school serves approximately 230 students from junior kindergarten to grade six.
Scientology's emeter is modified to use in the "secular" branch called Applied Scholastics. The new meter is called a Learning Accelerator. It has the same components of an emeter, which Scientology claims is a "religious artifact" and is used in the same manner. The use of this is for "Word Clearing". What is a non-religious group doing using a "proprietary religious artifact"?
Natural Henna artist September Reed visits the Avondale Regional Branch Library's teen summer learning program to share information on the history of henna, the process of creating paste, and the resulting stains. Each participant practices drawing their design and applying (lotion) henna—(there is no white henna!) Everyone received a practice tube of white lotion and a tube of brown henna to take home and apply.

SHU Learning Spaces. The Atrium (Apologies for the quality of the picture).
Two levels of 'social' space utilised for self-study or group work. This space is otherwise 'dead' space linking corridors in the building.
Both floors have students working, alone or in small groups, using laptops, books, papers, or just talking.
If you look closely you can also see a reflection of something similar going on in the Heartspace cafe on the 2nd floor.

Too much vignetting? Also, prime example of my best reason to get glasses, Pentax's AF fails but MF is no better without glasses...

My first attempt at making a movie with the E-PL1. Talk about learning by doing.... still, I think it conveys the idea of what it's like down there right now, even though it took me a while to figure out the focusing (keep the shutter half-pressed - duh!).
We visited the area around the multi-function hall or station of Faido, one of two future underground emergency stations. The two main tunnels, 57km each, are nearly completely dug out. At this point in Faido, they are already lined with concrete and are waiting for the electrical work and the final high-speed rails to be laid.
The workers work (can anyone think of a better synonym?) around the clock in three eight-hour shifts. They go on for nine days, then have four days off. There are general holidays in August and over Christmas. Wages are very good, and safety levels are high; nevertheless, there have been seven casualties since work started, all but one due to accidents with the various vehicles: only one was hit by a falling rock, which I found remarkable given that the men are working with up to 2.5km of rock over them.
